Watters, of Altona, to Mr. Edward Frederick Lamb, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Lamb, of Manchester. The Rev. A. L. Borland officiated at the double- ring ceremony. For the reception, which was held at the Masonic Hall, the bride's mother wore a dress of blue crepe, a pink flower hat and white accessories, and wore a corsage of pink carnations. The groom's mother wore a white and blue flowered crepe dress, a blue flower hat and white accessories, and wore a corsage of rose carnations. The newlyweds left on' a motor trip to the east coast. The bride chose for her travel- ling costume a two piece yellow linen suit and matching hat, and wore an orchid corsage. On their return, they will reside at Manchester, Ont. Guests at the wedding came from Brighton, Greenbank, Kingston, Niagara Falls, N.Y., Ottawa, Peterborough, Port Hope, Port Perry, Toronto and Whitby. Prior to her marriage, Irene was honoured at a presentation at the home of Mrs. Hugh Strong, Manchester, a presen tation from her pupils at Green- wood, showers at the homes of Mrs. Frank Barkey, Claremont, and Mrs. Wilf Morley, Stouff- ville, and Mrs. Watters also en- tertained at a Trousseau Tea in honour of her daughter. Obituary JOHN APOSTLE The death of John Apostle oc- curred Thursday, July 22nd at Hillsdale Manor in his 83rd He had been in poor health for the past year. The deceased was a native of Austria and came to Canada. in 1910. For some years Mr. Apostle farmed in the Winni- peg area and later farmed in the Port Perry district after coming east in 1938. In 1905 he married the form- er Mary Antoniuk in Austria. The deceased was a member of the Roman Catholic Church. Mr. Apostle is survived by his wife and four daughters: Mrs. Kay Mosienko of Port Perry; Mrs. F. M. Gilmore (Bessie) and Mrs. W. R. Devan (Annie) of Oshawa; and Mrs. J. Morrison (Pearl) of Deep River. Nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also sur- vive. A son, William, prede- ceased Mr. Apostle. The remains were at the Ger- row Funeral Chapel for a high requiem mass which was sung Saturday by Rev. Norbert Gig- nac at St. Mary of the People Church. Interment was in Mount Lawn Cemetery. In car No. 2 will be Mr. and Mrs. Jack Clarke and fa- mily of Raglan. No. 8 is the Tristram car which will trans- port Mr. and Mrs, W. Tristram and Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Mark of Scarborough and also Mr. and Mrs. John Tristram of Port Perry. One family is heading east. Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Wanamaker and daughters are visiting Lake Placid and Montreal this week. Safe and pleasant journeys to all. Our corner has some worthy representatives on the Little Britain Jr. Baseball team. This group participated in a tourna- ment on Saturday, the winners of which were Little Britain and East York. The play-off was on Sunday with Little Bri- tain winning 5-0. Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Bruce are happy again as. they hear of a new grandchild. On Friday a son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Bruce of Oakville. On Saturday Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Carr moved into the house we have always called thé parsonage. We welcome them to our village, Holidaying here this week] are: Mrs, Ross Jackman, Stitts- ville, with her mother Mrs. Tait. Mrs. Cora Moase, Toronto with her neice Mrs. Wm. Keen. Tristram family at a birthday dinner in honour of their daugh- ter Mrs. Tristram. The Tobins were busy on Sun- day too. Their visitors were Det. Dennis and Mrs. Tobin ac- companied by Mr. and Mrs. Jack Thompson of Tedford. Later Mr. and Mrs. F. Tobin and Mr. and Mrs. Robt. Slack of Port Perry arrived in time for supper. Callers at the Belair home were P.C. Don and Mrs. Williams, Whitby and Mr. and Mrs. Earle Bryant, Port Perry. In the evening Mr. and Mrs. Belair journeyed over to see Roderick Ernest, the new son of Mr. and Mrs. Ross Real, Greenbank. The annual S. S. picnic took place on Saturday at Geneva Park. With lots of people, swimming, races and food, it must have been a success. The, Wanamakers had things pretty much their own way at S.S. this week. Neil 'was sup- erintendent, Sylvia was pianist, Nancy read the lesson and also contributed birthday money and of course Glenn and Neil taught classes. Attendance 57. Instead of hibernating in win- ter the Seagravers take their rest in summer. Church service, Sunday School, Choir practice and U.C.W. are all withdrawn for the month of August.
