Bible Society ' The Annual meeting of the Bible Society's Port Perry Branch was held at the Scugog Head Church on the evening of Aug. 22nd. The business meet- ing was conducted by the branch president, Mr. Robert Pickard, following the opening prayer by Rev. G. Teskey of the Scugog Charge. It was de- cided to canvass the town of Port Perry this fall, instead of the usual church collection en- velope method, since the need for Bibles in the nations newly formed and growing in educa- tion is so great at the present time. Rev. Colin Rudd of Peter- borough then showed a fine new colour film produced by the Bible Society, called "Freedom in Their Souls". This is a story of Africa and it's Christians, and shows the joy of the people upon receiving their new Bibles in their own dialect. This would be an excellent film for any / TPN . . mission education meeting. Rev. Teskey closed the meet- ing with the benediction, and refreshments were then served by the members of the Head Church U.C.W. The executive of the local Bible Society would like to thank these kind people for their generosity. It is hoped that the canvass for funds for the Bible Society will meet-with the approval and | support of the people of Port Perry. It will be conducted on the evenings of Sept. 27th and Sept. 28th, Anyone who would be willing to join the canvassers and help out will be very wel- come. You will be assisting a very vital part of the Church Missionary work.
