. OBITUARIES JAMES BARKER The death occurred, at the Oshawa General Hospital on Friday morning, Sept. 24, 1966, after a short illness, of James Barker of Raglan. The deceased, a former resident of Whitby for many years, was in his 94th yr. The last surviving member of his family, Mr. Barker was the son of the late Thomas Barker and Caroline Banner. Born in East Whitby Township on Mar. 20, 1872, he farmed there in the surrounding district until mov- ing to Whitby 26 yrs. ago. He retired 12 yrs. ago and for the past 6 weeks has lived in Rag- lan. Mr. Barker was a member of St. Marks United Church, Whit- by. A great lover of good mu- sic, he sang in church choirs in the district, and played the vio- lin since his early years. His life was one of quiet christian patience and integrity. He also served the church in other ca- pacities, J In 1907 Mr. Barker was mar- ried in Raglan to the late Isa- belle Thompson, who prede- ceased him in 1941, He is sur- vived by his daughter Mrs. C. Avery (Irene) of Raglan and his son Gordon of Whitby. The funeral was held from the W. C. Town Funeral Chapel Whitby at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 27th. Rev. John Smith, minis- ter of St. Mark's Church con- ducted the service. Interment in Pine Grove Cemetery, Prince Albert, Ontario. Pall bearers Wm. Pellow, Garnet Cochrane, Leonard Al- lan, Roy Brown, Donald And- rew and Earl Banner. Colleran (Lela) of Oshawa and Mrs. E. Shaw (Rean) of Mayfield, N.Y. and a son, Mal- colm, of Vancouver. The funeral service was held at 2 p.m., Oct. 2 at the Gerrow Funéral Home.
