Phone 985-7391 PORT PERRY MANCHESTER The U.C.W. met at the home of Mrs. Ruth Best last Thurs- day afternoon. Desipte incle- ment weather, twelve members braved the heavy rain. The meeting opened with prayer and Psalm 23 was repeated in uni- son. Mrs. Gwen Lamb gave the topic for the devotional period and Pres. Mrs. Margaret Crox- all chaired the business session. The minutes of September meeting were read and approv- ed. Treasurer Mrs. Gwen Lamb reported bazaar receipts $152.68 and the second instalment of our share of Manse expenses, $62.60 was ordered paid. It was decided to help the Hospital Auxiliary with their Spring Fair. The November meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Crosier. Lunch was served by the hostess, as- sisted by Mrs. Bernice Dobson. "Rev. Mr. Teskey delivered a very fine Thanksgiving message on Sunday morning. There will be no service here on Sunday, October 27th, due to anniver- cary Services on the Island. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Best and family were in Sherbrooke and Montreal over the long week-end. Mrs. Meta Holtby and Mrs. Maude Crosier were among those who enjoyed the bus trip to Collingwood last Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. A. Roach, Misses Eunice and Susan were at their cottage in Haliburton over the holiday. PRINCE ALBERT PALS The first meeting of the Prince Albert Pals was held on October 9th at Mrs. Martyn's (our leader) house in Prince Al- bert. There was a good attendance though all of the members were not present. The meeting was opened by Mrs. Martyn with the Lord's Prayer. The winners for the gentlemen were -- Arthur Taylor, Albert Timms, Orville Stone. For the ladies Mrs, Orville Stone, Mrs. Olive Lane and Mrs. Elva Da- vidson. There will be another Euchre and Dance this Friday, Oct. 16th. Epsom U.C.W. are sponsor- ing another Bake,Sale at Hall and Shire Appliance Store, Nov. 12th. Mrs. Arthur Taylor accom- panied her daughter Mrs. Bruce Houghland, Bruce and their children on Sunday when they visited Mrs, Taylor's sister Mrs. Richard Downing, Mr. Downing and their family at Broadbent near Parry Sound. Miss Alvena Jeffery and friend of London visited Sunday evening with Mr. and Mrs. G. Jeffery. Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Walker have returned home after spending a week's vacation with Mr. and Mrs. T. Taylor and Mrs. T. Stewart drove to Minden and Miner's Bay Area on Monday afternoon. Mr. Walter Asling of Ajax visited his parents Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Asling on Monday.
