Mrs. Dymond, regent, pre- sented pictures and an account of their visit to Russia. Shq mentioned Leningrad as poor and shabby, in contrast to Kiev with it's beautiful parks and flowers. Food everywhere was bad and very expensive, for ex- ample, 75¢c. for one orange. The children get excellent care, by the state, as the mothers all work. Mrs. Dymond has an in- herent sense of humour which i made even the drab picture of Russia come alive. A vote of thanks was tender- ed by Mrs. MacFarlane. Both members and their guests were unanimous in their appreciation and all agreed that in contrast to enslaved Russia Canada is a very desirable place to live. Scout Mothers Auxiliary Mrs. Glenn Van Camp graci- ously opened her home for the Scout and Cub Mothers' Auxi- liary to hold their monthly meeting in her spacious recrea- tion room. About fifteen ladies were present and a warm wel- come was extended to all those showing such an interest in the Scout movement. Sevyyal matters of business were "discussed with the presi- dent, Mrs. Reesor presiding. The secretary's report was giv- en in detail by Mrs. Jefford and the Treasurer, Mrs. Short re- ported on the Tour to Markham, the financial results were gra- tifying. About sixty-three members & friends enjoyed this tour through the Cheeseborough - Pond's Factory and the outing was successful. The auxiliary members are very grateful to all who supported this project and wish to sincerely thank all the volunteer drivers, especially the menfolk, Messrs. John Jef- ford, Joe Draper and Charles Reesor. We acknowledge with appreciation the kindness of | Mr. George Shipway who also voluntered his services in sev- | eral ways and along with his wife accompanied his relatives the Jefford's on the tour. Several delegates were ap- inted to attend the Ladies' Auxiliaries Conference which was held in Toronto, recently. We hope to have reports on this trip at one of the meetings. Plans are underway to hold the next meeting, on November 16th, at the Scout Hall at 8.30 p.m. We extend a special invi- tation to all officers and mem- bers of the Auxiliary to attend, especially those who were the original executive of the Port Perry Scout and Cub Mothers' Auxiliary. An appeal is being made to the new mothers of the community who have children in the scout movement to come out and see the building pro- vided for their youngsters and to get acquainted with each other. Any suggestions to liven up the interest in this work will be appreciated and leaders and Ry hy A adil assistants are still urgently needed. Lakeshore Int.
