On October 30th an open in- stallation of the Offiers of War- riner Lodge was held in- the|® new lodge hall at 8.30 p.m. The meeting was called to order by the Noble Grand Bro. Ronald Wanamaker. The Marshal of the installing team took over and announced that Bro. Joe Imeson, Dist. De- puty Grand Master and Staff were prepared to carry out their duties of installing the members of Warriner Lodge into their respective offices. Bro. Ronald Wanamaker was placed in the Past Grand's chair and the D.D.G.M. took charge. The following officers were installed: Noble Grand--Chas. Bourgeois R.S.N.G.--Maurice Fralick. Clarence Butson the Dis- trict Warden of District #41 was called upon, who spoke words of welcome to all present and then thanked the members for placing him in this high office. If all goes according to plan Bro. Clarence Butson will be the next District Deputy Grand Master of District #41. Several of the visiting Noble Grands complimented the in- stalling team on their splendid work. On November 20th, 1915, the 58th Battalion, after having trained at Niagara-On-The- Lake, marched to Toronto, and from there went overseas to take part in a War that was supposed to end all wars. (Ed. Note: From Niagara-OnThe- Lake to Toronto is 96 miles. In 1916 the only pavement was through the City of Hamilton-- the balance of the way was un- paved, dusty road). Landing in England December 1st, we continued our training until February 21, 1916. Then over to France and Belgium for three years of trench warfare. Trench warfare meant mud, filth, rats, lice, to say nothing of the dangers of shell fire, machine guns, bombs and gas, which took a toll of 867 killed and 28356 wounded. Altogether, there wre approx- imately 5000 men passed through our Battalion in those 3 years, and now -- b0 years later, there remains about 175. Friendships that were formed under the most dreadful of conditions have remained strong. So strong, in fact that men came from Halifax, N.S; St. Johns, New Brunswick; Montreal; Ottawa; Galena, I11.; Detroit, 'Mich.; New Liskeard and many other points. It has been said "Will they never forget it?" Our answer is "NO". Neither do we wish to impose any day as a day of Remembrance on any who wish to forget. To vets, like us, every day is Remembrance Day. There are a few members who have had the opportunity of go- ing back to visit many of the old places overseas; among them many of the cemeteries where their pals are buried.
