These are Messrs Harvey Graham; Neil Malcolm and Donald Frw. 4-H CLUB NEWS PORT PERRY WEST 4-H HOMEMAKING CLUB The last two meetings were canceled for two weeks since the exams were on. The last two metings were held on Dec. 1st and Dec. 4th, completing the unit for the year. At both meetings there were twelve members present, The sixth meeting was held at Mrs. Carnochan's and the minutes wre read by Judy Wal- lace. Discussion: Judgement of tea biscuits was made by Mrs. Bas- sant and Mrs. Carnochane since the girls made some & brought them to be judged. | Notes: 1. What Standard Tea Biscuits should be like. 2. This con- cluded the unit for this year. aR Elect Three New | Caught By Conveyer Belt Six Year Old Boy Dies A 6-year-old boy died Sunday after being mauled by a con- veyor belt Saturday on a neigh- bor's farm in Nestleton. Michael Liscum, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roland G. Liscum, was playing near a conveyor belt that was running corn into a hopper when the belt caught hold of him and dragged him into the power unit. He was taken to the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, where he died of head injuries. Lorne Crawford Elected Pres. Of Brooklin Fair Board Officers for the ensuing year were elected at a meeting of the Brooklin Spring Fair Board. The fair has a balance of $5,181.18 compared with $4,446.- 80 for 1964. The directors will meet Jan 11 to discuss import- ant business. The new officers are: Clare Vernon, Port Perry, past presi- dent; Lorne Crawford, Brooklin, president; Douglas Coates, Whitby, first vice-president; Bruce Lehman, Ashburn, second vice-president; Arthur Richard- son, Ashburn ,thrid vice-presi- dent; Mrs Betty Holman, Brook- lin, secretary, women's section. LISCUM The death occurred Dec. 5 at the Sick Children's Hospital, Toronto, as the result of a farm accident of Michael Rolland Ivan Liscum, 6, of RR 1, Nes- tleton. The child's clothing became entangled in the grain elevator in the barn at his home. He was rushed to Port Perry Mem- orial Hospital and subsequently to the Oshawa General Hospital before being taken to Toronto. A son of Rolland and Dianna Liscum, the deceased was born June 30, 19569, in Oshawa. / Besides his parents he is sur- vived by a sister, Donna, 8 and two brothers, Larry, 8 and Johnny, 8. Also surviving are his pater- nal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ivan™ Liscum of Oshawa; his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Gordon Grey, of Lively, Ont.; and his great - grandmothers, Mrs. Annie Hicks of Burleigh Falls and Mrs. Marion Perry of North Cobalt. Rev. John Markle of St. Gre- gory's Roman Catholic Church held prayers at the MecIntosh- Anderson Funeral Home at 11.30 a.m., Dec. 7. Interment was in Oshawa Union Cemetery. eo. ¢ ROBERT FLOYD PILKEY The death occured suddenly Saturday of Robert Floyd Pil- key, 41, of Brooklin The owner of a Brooklin service station, Mr. Pilkey died in a drowning accident in Lake Ontario. Mr. Pilkey was born in Whit- by and had lived in the area all of his life. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Pilkey, of Whitby. He was educated at Whitby public and high schools. He married the former Miss Mary Mitchell, in 1945. Mr. Pilkey and his family had lived in Brooklin for 11 years. He was a member of the Brooklin United Church. © He is survived by his wife Mary, and three children, James, Ronald and Linda. There is one sister Mrs, Louis Richard- son (Olive). Funeral was Dec. 7 with ser- vice at the Robinson Funeral Home, Brooklin. Burial was at Groveside Cemetery, Brooklin, Hunter Drowns In Lake Ontario A duck hunter drowned in icy Lake Ontario on Saturday after his companion became too cold to continue supporting him. Dead is Floyd Pilkey, 40, a Brooklin service station opera- tor. In hospital in satisfactory condition, but suffering from exposure after one hour in the lake is Fred Marshall, 37, also of Brooklin. The two men were on a hunt- ing trip when their 10-foot boat overturned. Other hunters nearby tried to launch the only small boat available--a flat bottomed "car- top" -- but high waves beat them back.
