Carr of Port Perry visited their grandmother Mrs. Robt. Leask during the week-end. A very good crowd attended the Community meetng which was held on Tuesday evening of last week. This meeting was called to reconsider the de- cision to move the Hall to the Park. When that vote was taken it seemed the logical thing to do for two major rea- sons. In the first place there was insufficient land surround- ing the building and then there was the possibility that in order to widen the highway through the village it would be necessary to move or demolish the build- ing. However, since then, the required amount of land has been made available and con- sent has been received from the Highways Department to make renovations on its present lo- cation, With these two obsta- cles removed the situation was entirely changed. Consequently all former motions relating to the moving of the Hall were rescinded and a fresh start made. By a large majority it was decided to leave the build- ing where it now stands. The renovation will still be carried out as a Centennial project and work must be commenced by July 1st of this year. Sympathy is extended to Mrs. Wm. Bacon whose sister, Mrs. Smith of Uxbridge passed away recently. A large crowd attended the Junior Farmers' Banquet which was held in the church basement last Saturday evening. The annual Congregational meeting was held on Monday evening of last week with .the usual small attendance. The meeting was opened with prayer by the minister and the first item of business was the elec- tion of Armour McMillan as Secretary. Encouraging re- ports from the various church organizations were presented and adopted as read. This was followed by the election of offi- cers for the current year, Some of these were reelected and in other cases replacements were made.
