Mr. Frank Vickery and Mr, | and Mrs. Les Beacock were a- mong other relatives & friends who were graciously entertained Sunday afternoon at the home of Mr. and Mrs. L, Devitt and family, Oshawa. In early even- ing all attended the special ser- vice at St. George's Anglican church when Bishop F, H. Wil- kinson, Toronto assisted in the Dedication of the newly installed organ and sanctuary chair, The ishop also officiated over the Confirmation Class of which Barbara and Neil Devitt (two of Mr. Vickery's grandchildren) were among the thirty-six can- didates, A social time and re- cption was held in the Parish Hall following the service. Miss Mildred Martyn, student | nurse Wellesley hospital, Tor- onto will be enjoying three weeks holiday with her parents Mr. and Mrs, A. Martyn. Mr. and Mrs. L. Hunter had their daughter Mr, and Mrs. K. Kyrytow, Toronto for the week- end. Anna Croxall is spending a few week's with her friend Linda Hunter while Mr. and Mrs. O. Croxall, Manchester are on vacation in Mexico. Sunday company with Mr. & Mrs. F. Pearce were Miss Alice Pearce of Oshawa; Mr. and Mrs. Glen Steinhoff and family, and their friend a Japanese student Mr. Sasaki all of Toronto. Several from our midst at- tended and enjoyed the program sponsored at Kedron church Friday and Saturday evening. All are pleased to note Mrs. Fear is improving after being confined to her bed. Better health is also wished Mr. Ernie Jewell who is a patient in Wellesley Hospital, Toronto. Greenbank U.C.W. The monthly 'meeting of the Fidelis Unit, U.C.W. was held Wednesday evening, February 2nd at the home of Mrs. Wm. Stone, Mrs. Betty Stone began the Devotional with an opening thought. Hymn #500 "Take Time to be Holy" was sung. Mrs. Ruth Stone read from the Scriptures and led in Prayer. Hymn #529 was read in unison, Misses Janice, Jill and Cathy Stone sang "Saviour Hear Us Pray". Mrs. B. Stone read the topic "Imprisoned Splendor" based on Verse 36 of the 8th Chapter of .the book of John. The offering was taken and de- dicated. Mrs. Lillian Truax read the history of Trinidad from the Study Book on that country, The devotional came to a close with the singing of hymn #434 "Saviour, Like a Shepherd Lead Us". The President, Mrs. Baird took charge of the meeting and welcomed all the ladies present. The catering committee reported on the ques- tion of menu and rates for the coming year. After much dis- cussion it was generally agreed that prices should be raised. Mrs. Noreen Cook attended the Annual Meeting held in Oak- wood and gave a very interest- ing and detailed report to the ladies. The Fidelis Unit will pay the shipping charges of nylons to Korea, being collected by the C.GILT. It was moved and seconded to pay a share of the cost of the Observer for mem- bers of the Church. A committee of Mrs. R. Beare, Mrs. M. Real and Mrs. B, McGee were asked to plan for an outing some- here in future. A com- milter ar Mrs. J. McKean and i J. Hunter are to look into plans for a luncheon and guest speaker. The meeting came to a close and the ladies repeated the Miz- pah Benediction. All enjoyed a scoial half hour and lunch. vis ARCAMN va ty. wey 4-H CLUB 4-H CLUB--PRINCE ALBERT PALS Our 8rd meeting was held at Mrs. Martyn's home. We open- ed the meeting with the Lord's Prayer, roll call, minutes of the 2nd, meeting and the Home As- signment. The meeting was handed over to Mrs. Martyn and Mrs. Pugh, who taught us how to do Italian Hemstitching and how to mitre a corner. All started to make forms for the pillows which we will soon be making, The meeting was closed with the 4.H pledge. PORT PERRY NORTH 4.H CLUB Meeting Two Wed., Feb. 23. The second meeting of the NEWS Port Perry Busy Bee's was op- ened with the 4-H Pledge, There were 12 members present. The meeting was held at the home of our leader Mrs, Bassant. After the roll was called the meeting was turned over to the leaders. Discussion and Dem- onstration, The leaders showed how to do A Mitred Corner and Italian hemstitching, Group Work -- All started working on the Italian hem- stitching.
