Piano, RM.T. ~ PORT PERRY STAR, Thursday, March 3rd., 1966 Cubs, Dads Enjoy Annual Banquet On Saturday, February 26th, the Annual Banquet of 'C" Pack was held in the Scout Hall with 30 Cubs, 27 Dads, 3 Com-~ mittee Members -- almost 100% attendance. Messrs. E. Ken- nedy; Hans Kraupa and Ben Pickard filled in as fathers for the three older sons of Gerald Bent, George Parry and George Hall. At the head table, Mr. Ed. Mulholland, Vice-Chairman of the Group Committee acted as Chairman for the evening. Also at head table were Mr. & Mrs. Jack Jelbert, Provincial Com- missioner of Lakeland Region; Rev. H. M. Buntain and his wife; Mr. Stan Ploughman, Cub. master and Mrs. Ploughman; and Mrs. Eleanor Moore, As- sistant Cubmaster. Her hus- band, Mr, Allan Moore was seated with their son Robert. Leaders Jim McMaster; Don Waldinsberger; John Cooper were seated at other tables. Un- able to be present was Ivan Lytle. The joint efforts of Scout Mothers and Guide Mothers Auxiliaries resulted in a delect- able dinner. Following the introduction of guests, Chairman Mulholland expressed thanks to the mem- bers of his Committee for a job well done in contacting all the fathers, setting up of tables, etc. The ladies who had pre- pared and served the banquet were also tendered much appre. ciation. Cubmaster Ploughman then introduced his helpers and First and Second Stars were present- ed to two of the Cubs. Badges were then given out to the boys for various projects. A general sing-song followed, with assist- ance from Mr, John Jefford. Toast to the Dads was pro- posed by Steve Hillier, and re- sponded to by his father, Doug, Hillier. Commissioner Jelbert gave a short summary of the changes underway in Scouting and Cub- bing and told the gathering of the future awards of Stars. It will be possible for a Cub to be seen wearing 5 Stars on his sleeve in the months ahead, be- cause the Cub cap is not large enough to accommodate as many as five Stars, Rev.
