RESOLUTIONS passed by Port Perry Planning Board at a meeting of March 21, 1966, Resolutions already passed re Tripp Sub-division Agreement. The resolution re Franssen Sub- division was held over for the chairman of roads, to first read the Franssen Sub - division Agreement, main, once Percival starts some- thing, he usually follows it through to the bitter end. Such is the case when Perci- val gets hold of a newspaper. He starts at the front and reads i right through to the last page. Very little escapes him. He reads the news--the adverts-- the personal columns -- the works, in fact, So, when reading the Port Perry paper last week, Perci- val's eye caught the letter to the Editor. Percival read this. let- ter and then re-read it again and as he read, his heart swell- ed with the utmost joy, because here, at last, Percival had met a kindred soul--a man with cour- age and conviction and humour --a man who dared not to go along with the crowd. - Percival considers that full participation in the singing of hymns at a church service is an essential part of the service and Percival further thinks that all members of the congregation should be so intent upon their own efforts as to be reasonably oblivious of their neighbour's contributions, Perhaps those with the puzzled and critical looks were jealous? Percival is sometime puzzled as to why people go to church-- perhaps he is so wrong in his thinking but Percival wonders, perhaps, if people go to church because it is the smart thing to do--a kind of social status or is it because they are rather proud of their new hat or coat, or it looks rather good if they drive up in their new car--or is it because of their true reli- gious convictions (and Percival hopes that this latter is rather the rule than the exception.) Percival is the first to admit that he is no better or worse than anyone else. He admits that he sometimes mentally sur- veys the situation before a ser- vice starts--contemplating who is present and who is not and he, too, sometimes gives thought to matters which really do not have any bearing on a church service but once the service starts -- Percival tries hard to become absorbed in the service and all it stands for, to the ex~ clusion of every day matters,-- Sometimes he is successful -- sometimes he is not. So, Percival says to last week's correspondent--"Keep a stout heart, Sir and enjoy the. full inner feeling that results from total participation in the church service and if a few are indirectly critical, by action or attitude, encourage them by your example, not by retalia- tion."
