Mr. Ken Sturman returned home on Thursdaf'.' The flue seems to be abating but Mrs. McNeil and Mr. Cliff Short have had stubborn. cases. ~The other day people south of the village rubbed their eyes in wonder to see two women hik- ing briskly down the road They turned out to. be Mrs, "Ada Whiteside and her daughter Barbara from England who flew over for a three-week visit with Mr. Nick Newlands and Ada. Some walking would be good for Canadian women too. The May U.C.W. meeting might well be labelled visitor's night, Our guest speaker, Miss Gladys Joblin of Port Perry needed no introduction in Sea- grave, one of her old home towns as by picture she took us with her on her trip to the Holy Land, All agreed it was an interesting and instructive talk, especially as Miss Joblin told so many witty personal anec- dotes. A guest soloist was pre- sent also in the person of Mrs. Hoult - of Little Britain who gave a fine rendering of an old "The Stranger of Galilee". Along -with Mus. Hoult came two of our old ex- . members, Mrs. -S. Wooldridge and Mrs, W. Clarke. Amother Don Gerrow from the Island. We were glad "to have them all. The worship was in charge of "Mrs. Tobin of Unit 1 who was assisted by Mrs, Harding and Mrs. Chas, Short. Mrs. Hurst and Mrs. Harding placed a layette, on display to give us an idea of the work be- ing done along that line. Mrs. Eagleson outlined the | Doug MeMillan. arrangements made for a re- turn visit to Port Hope Sr, Ci- tizens club, The chartered bus will leave Seagrave at 9 o'clock on Tuesday, June 7th. Plans are for lunch and a social hour in Port Hope, possibly other stops on the retutn trip and arrival home, about 5 p.m. Quite a number of the women declared their intentions of taking the trip but there is still room for several more, An invitation was received from Greenbank U.C.W. to at- tend their annual open meeting on June 1st, Mrs, Tobin, Mrs. Ken Short and Mrs. Durward dropped their pennies in the birthday box and lunch was served. Gordon McMillan was one of the Grade 12 students P.P.H.S, who took the trip to- Ottawa to visit parliament' and see the tulips. Mr. "and" Ms. Jack Raglan celebrated. their 9th wedding anniversary and Mr. & Mrs, Belair their 8th on Satur- day evening by seeing the Ed- monton Oil Kings defeat Osh- awa at Maple Leaf Gardens. Saturday was quite a day for Seagravers. At 8 o'clock in the afternoon came the Wana- maker - Graham Wedding in Cannington United Church, Guests from here were--Mr. and Mrs. B, Wanamaker and Bill; Mr. and Mrs, G. Wanamaker, Sylvia and Nancy; Mr. and Mrs, Joe Stone and of course Mr. "Others upon whom Seagrave has a bit of claim were Mr, and Mrs. Ron Wanamaker, Wayne, Lynda and Mary Lee of Oshawa, Mr. and Mrs, Peter Sheehan, Toronto.
