The girls voted that ten dollars be donated toward the Vocation Bible School. Two girls were chosen to take part in the "Dedication. to Mission Ceremony" in the Sunday morn- ing service, May 22. A piano solo presented each by Jill Stone and Karen David- son was enjoyed by all. The four gold star girls then gave a summary of four of the stories from our mission study. Blue Stars--Ann Parish, Debbie McGee, Gold Stars--Joan Mc¢Caig, Judy Rodd, Jill Stone, and Janice Rahm, Mrs. Harris then thanked the leaders 12th at 1 R.R. 2, and Mr. Explorers presented a short skit on "Mis- sion at Home" with "Mary and 'Curtis Murray". favoured us with a piano solo. The meeting closed with "Taps", and tea and cookies were served by the group. e Holsteins Judged By 4-H Members The 'May meeting of the Port held at the farm of Mr. Heayn, R.R. 3, Port Perry, Club President, Murray Stone, Blackwater, R.R. 2, called the meeting to order and announced the programme for the evening. The Club Members then judg- ed a class of two year old Hol- -steins in milk; with Club Lead- ers, Mr, Les Smith, Port Perry, Lloyd Wilson. Uxbridge, R.R. 2, Aisa the official placing. The programme also included a discussion of dairy cattle feeding. The importance of feeding a high quality rough- age, supplemented with a suit- able amount of concentrates, was emphasized thr oughout this discussion, HILLTOP HERALD The G.B.S.S.A. Rifle Meet was held last week by the Rifle Team (under Mr. Litt's super- vision) in the Rifle Range, 'Mr, Law's History Class tra- velled to, Ottawa on May 13th. where it stayed at the Chateau Laurier. During their stay, they visited such institutions as Queen's University, Parliament Buildings, the Public Archives, The Mint, and the National Aviation Building at Uplands Airport. i$ year's Interschool Track Meet, hosted by Port Perry High, was held on the grounds of Uxbridge High on May 11th. Port Perry placed third in the overall standing, with seven medal winners. They are: Anna Forder, Jr Girls' Champion; Georgia Rice, Ji, Girls' Runner- up; Sharon Baird, Intermediate Girls' Champion; Larry Emmer- son, Jr. Boys' Champion; Brian McNab, Jr. Boys' Runner-up; Arnie Heayn, Intermediate Boys Champion; and Pauvl Hughes, Senior Boys' Runner-up, Port High's cheerleaders were. on hand to cheer for Port Perry, The "Spring Fling", sponsored by the Literary .Society, was held on the evening of May 13. A large crowd turned out t hear the music played by Disc Jockeys Tim Brunton and Dave for their work, and the girls Read. Patter- son opened the meeting with the Lord's Prayer. Mrs. Pat- terson congratulated the mem- bers on their team work in making the handicraft show a 'Plans were started to make' next year's show bigger and better. A small token of appreciation was sent to Mrs, Grace Me- Dowell of Uxbridge who so kindly consented to demonstrate weaving at our handicraft show. Mrs. Mabel Howsam had a treat in store for the members, out of her suitcase came over 25 different pieces of handi- craft that she had made during her winter in Florida, Mrs. Howsam offered to demonstrate how to make some of the ar- ticles Flows the next meet- ing. {An enjoyable hour was spent looking at the different crafts. - Mrs. Hamilton of Blackstock invited the Guild to demonstrate 'hooking ,spinning, weaving at the Blackstock fair. On Saturday evening Mr, Mrs. Glen Hood RAR their neighbours and friends on the occasion of their 25th wed- ding anniversary and were pre- sented with a coffee table, flow- er arrangement and ash tray, We wish them many more happy wedding anniversaries. Mr..and Mrs. A, Krieg and family spent the week-end at McArthur Mills. We are pleased to learn that Mrs, Mary Tetlow is out of hos- pital and is daughter and son-in-law Mr. Mrs, 'A. Haines of I _. Mrs, Cecil Fralick Guide Mothers And Daughters Hold | Banquet May 12 - The first of three mother and daughter banquets was held last Friday evening in the Scout Hall, when approximately 100 Guides, Brownies, Rangers and their mothers partook of a hot turkey dinner catered to by the Mothers Auxiliary. Captain Carol Nottingham of the 3rd Guide Company very capably acted as mistress of" ceremonies, and introduced, the head table guests. Rev, R.:C. Rose askad the blessing, The toast to the mothers was given by Ranger Barbara Web- ster with Mrs. B, Sonley res- ponding for the-mothers. Miri- am Christie graciously thanked the mothers responsible for the dinner. A sing song followed, led by Ranger Marsha Mulholland. Rev. Rose after a short mesfige to the girls presented several 'with their Behgion" and Life Emblems. Guest speaker for the eVeR = fe ing was 'Division Commisisoner Mrs. Ruby Roach, Badges and Awards presented to Guides, Rangers & Brownies by their respective leaders. Money was raised for Scholarships, delegates ex- penses to the Area Convention and Guelph Conference, Fair Board, Homemaking Clubs, and many other worthy causes, "The Motto -- the best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. The district President Mrs. Mervyn Annis of Brougham was welcomed, and she brought greetings: from Ontario South District, congratulating the In- stitute and the conveners on their year's work.
