'MacFarlane Celebrate 50th An It was a very happy time on Sunday, June 5th when hundreds' of friends and relatives came to extend congratulations and best wishes to Mr. and Mrs, J. S. . MacFarlane onthe occasion of the 50th Anniversary of their marriage, Mr. MacFarlane -is a son of the late Mr, and Mus. James MacFarlane and was born on the farm where he now resides. Mrs. MacFarlane was the former Eva Muriel Dure, daugh- ter of Mr, and Mrs. Nicholas Dure, - They were married by the Rev. Capt. Thomas Dodds, min- ister of St. Andrew's Presby- terian Church, Sonya on March 22, 1916, at the home of the bride's parents. They--have one son Reid J. Dure MacFarlane, who served in '#he Air Force in World War II, While stationed in England he married Miss Eileen P, Leopold, and they have one ddughter, ~Leueen E. MacFarlane. "MacFarlane | Mr, and Mus. have taken an active interest in their home, church and wel. «Mr, MacFarlane has served for many yeats on the Central Ont- ario area High School Board. He was a member of Reach Township Council and County Council. He is Clerk of the Session of St. Andrew's Presby- terian Church, Sonya, and is ac tive in Politics. Mrs. MacFarlane's interests have been in the home and fa- mily, in the church, the W.M.S,, a member of Lindsay Presby- terial executive for over thirty years. Taught in Sunday. School of Scugog Chapter, Port Perry "Imperial Order Daughters 'of | the Empire, and served four years as Regent of that Order. Beautiful baskets of roses, mums, carnations and many other flowers, all gifts from many friends banked the living "and dining rooms where Mr. & Mrs." MacFarlane received their guests, : Miss Lorna Dure, sister of Mrs. MacFarlane, assisted . by Mrs, R.
