Members have enjoyed many bus trips that were planned for summer months, The last one was indeed a A bus left Port Perry for a Senior Citizens Convention held in Ottawa recently. We left early by Burley Bus. M. DeNure was our driver, and he certain- ly did his best to make this trip a happy occasion for us all. He described places of interest and we arrived safely (43 members) by noon. We were alloted rooms (two in a room) at Carleton University, which has lovely grounds (not one building but many) where students study. We enjoyed the discussions at thle afternoon session parti- on old age pensions, things of great interest to Senior Citizens. we were served a turkey sup- per in three different large rooms- there. Five hundred & eleven sat down and enjoyed this bountiful supper. ~ In the evening an excellent concert was presented by 12 ladies (of - Ottawa) wearing lovely costumes representing the 1920's. Songs of old were sung and most of us joined in. M.C. was an elderl¥"man and he delighted the audience with his imitations of old vaudeville a. At 6.30. pm. days. Next day we left grounds by bus at 9 a.m., arrived at Par- liament Bldgs. to see changing of the guard from 10 am. until 10.40. This is well worth seeing. Performance. was held on lovely grounds there. Right on the dot Bag Pipes and a band came marching up the street, with soldiers in their scarlet coats and fur hats. It was a sight to behold. This performance is just in July & August & hundreds were there to watch it. Then we went shopping down the Mall close by, had lunch, met bus again at 1 p.m. and took a lovely drive to Gataneau Hills. On the way home we stopped at Perth, preperations were made before hand, and we all sat down to a roast beef dinner. Then on the last stretch home | many slept and others talked and laughed. All in all we were a "tired bunch. Mr. H. Buckland and Mr. R St. John, delegates, went ahead of us a couple of days, and they met us at the bus when we arrived. We are sure they will have lots to tell the results of this interesting convention. Please keep in mind next Euchre date, Sept. 17th at Hall at 8.30 p.m. on Saturday. After Sept. 14th our next meeting will be on Wed., Sept. 28th at 2 p.m. Let's still keep the ball rolling, as we all en- joy such good fellowship and enjoy these outings.
