The evening started with "a real nice turkey dinner and ended with music for dancing by the very able John Horner and his son. Everyone enjoyed Round & Square Dancing till the night was over. When the folks arrived, Madge Legg greeted them at the entrance with a smile on her face and a pen. in her hand to sign the register. The tasty dinner was served shortly after 7 O'clock. Dessert was made up of the most deli- cious array of pies ever gath- ered in one spot at the same time. When everyone was well fed, the business meeting be- gan. Manchester Credit Union had another successful year and went well over the million dollars in assets, with 4% % interest paid on savings, The theme of the evening was based on the new symbol, thought out and designed by Dave OQosterlo. Its message says 'A Steady Course to a Brighter Future' which is ex- actly what the Credit Union is forecasting for its Members. Mr. Vince Mountford took over the social part of the ev- 'ening and he was an immediate success. One of the entertainers in his group was an 11 year old boy who won the Fiddlers' Competition at Shelburn. We were all' tapping our feet in time with the lively music and everyone was in a bouncing mood by the time the dancing started. One hundred and ninety three people turned out to the meeting, to hear the An- nual Report --and witness the Elections. We know that this is true Credit Union spirit, but _BUSINESS DIRECTORY . While we were talking, they told me that Mr. Lade not only designed their house, but the two of them built most of it them- selves. : +The unique part about the construction is the fact. that every single piece of material in it, is completely Canadian. Even the pegged hardwood floor. The colonial design and field stone trimming fit into the country setting perfectly. They have the original bell from the first school in Brook- lin, set in a belfry on the Flag- stone patio out back. No matter how beautiful and streamlined the mew houses be- come, they somehow never seem: as cozy and warm as the old fashioned Colonial Canadian Home. --Thank goodness.
