Mrs. Bruce Mountjoy 'read a poem "New Year" "and a Meditation on "What makes a New Year? in which she quot- ed.several quoations from Paul and John's letters as "All things are become new". If any man be in Christ, he is a new crea- ture". Following prayer, hymn "Standing on the Portal" and offeratory. Mrs. Kyte conduct- ed the business when reports were heard from Vall depart- ments. Secretary Mrs. H. Mec- Laughlin read several thank- you's from friends remembered at Christmas and one from: the Victor Home. Congregational meeting January 20th; World Day of Prayer Service to be held in this Church February 10th, also the Oshawa Presby- terial, February 15th in North Minster was announced. Mrs. Kyte, retiring president, ex- pressed her appreciation of co- operation and willingness of ex- ecutive and members during her two year term of office. Rev. SPEARS The citizens of Port Perry were shocked to hear of the sudden passing of Anne U, Spears, on January 4th, 1967. Anne. was born at Dorset, Ont., on March 7, 1918. She was married July 1st, 1938 at Dor- set, Ont. to Murray D. Spears, who predeceased her May 2nd, 1945. Anne made her home in Burks Falls, Markham and Ajax but had lived in Port Perry for 21 years. She was a member of St. John's Presbyterian Church and an active member of Boy Scout & Gil Guide Movement, Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxili- ary, Maybelle Rebekah Lodge, & the Wednesday night Ladies Bowling. Left to mourn her loss are her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Adam Crosier of Dorset, Ont. A son Murray, of Pickering and a 'daughter Geraldine (Mrs. Doug- las Aird) of Oshawa, two grandchildren, Charlene and Laurel Aird.; a brother Cecil Crosier, of Markham, "also a dear friend Mr. Jack Healey of Port Perry. Funeral was held on Satur- day, January 7th, 1967 at 2 p.m. from McDermontt - Panabaker Chapel. Interment in Pine Grove Cemetery, Prince Albert. Rev. H. M. Buntain was the officiating clergyman. The Pall bearers were Mr. Douglas Healey, Robert! Healey, James Rider, David Rider, Murray Wallace and Bruce Young.
