On Thurs. evening of Jan. 19, Mrs. Mabel Sweetman's group catered for the "Head" U.C.W. for their Mystery Sister Supper. Twenty-two people sat down to beautifully decorated tables with the Centennial theme in Centre pieces," and enjoyed a lovely surprise meal. We miss- ed the following sisters:--Mrs. Clara Whitter, Mrs. Elsie An- gus, Mrs. Dorothy Martyn, Mrs. Margaret Hoult, Mrs. Dorene Ashbridge and Mrs. Gertie Col- lins. At this time we welcome the new sisters, Mrs. Sandra Taylor, Mrs. Betty Collins and Mrs. Carol Boneschansker. After dishes were removed, the President, Mrs. Reta Reader gave a few words of welcome to all who had attended and mov- ed a vote of thanks to the com- * mittees in charge of arrange- ments and program. Then a few items of business were pre- sented including the minutes of "the previous executive meeting.' It was noted that $30.00 had been received from Oshawa & Regina from Foy & Harper descendants toward the Centen- nial project of Cemetery reno- vation. Members were inform- ed that future receipts received from church organizations would have a number "assigned by the gov't to prove authority of signatures. Those who al- "ready receive the "Observer" will add them to our program selection supply. ~~ Travelling food boxes will be started any time by the group leaders and "be returned to the group lead- ers bhefore.the end of Feb. Members of the "Head" and: "Grace U.C.W. are requested to start thinking about the joint Antiqué show in June. Please find out where you can get items. Give all the information to your president so that it can be typed for labeling & record- ing. The date is to be Satur- day, June 24th. The Township Hall is to be used for the dis- play. It will be necessary to plan ahead as we hope to invite Antique dealers to have display and sale of their items. Euchre and Court Whist par- ties are planned by "Grace" & "Head" throughout winter. On Feb. 15, members must plan to attend the annual Pres- byterial meeting in Oshawa. After the Candle lighting ceremony, when sisters learned who had remembered their per- sonal occasions thro' the 'year; a varied program started. Twen- ty-four items were viewed and covered. Then instead of re- membering and listing them, it was necessary to associate them with 24 phrases. The best memories and sense of associa- tion were shown by Mrs. Marie Clark and Mrs. Joyce Heayn. Then the ladies enjoyed an ev- ening of Court Whist, which for many was entirely new. But they all declared it was more fun than euchre. Mrs. Joyce H&yn again proved her albrt- ness by capturing the men's high prize, while Mrs. Grace Love won the ladies' high. Mrs. Ethel Redman Reader trailed along for low prizes. Mrs. Grace Love carried us along and kept us in suspense thro' her long, well read and 'acted monologue. A few other prizes were won by ladies who were fortunate enough to have required items on them. The Feb. meeting of the "Head" will be at the Prince Albert home of Mrs. Mabel Graham.
