Mrs. Heather Reader 'read the Scripture from Mark 15. Mrs. Helen Redman con- ducted a discourse on the "Crucifixion" following the reading of a magazine article "Did Jesus plan His crucifix- ion?" In the roll call all re- called old fashioned kitchen utensils. Notes or words of apprecia- tion were received on behalf of Mrs. Miller and from Rev. F. G. Joblin, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Collins and Joyce. - The Hospital, Committee re- ported that Centennial spoons will be given to new babies this year, instead of bootees. For the Spring Fair we chose aprons again. We were also reminded of a travelogue to' be given Feb. 22nd in the Presby- terian Church. During the business - discus: sion we were informed of addi: tional literature added to our supply and an excerpt was read form "Sunday - To-day and To- rrow". We were requested to remember the Presbyterial annual meeting in Oshawa. Many membership tickets were purchased. ~ Mrs. Graham's group read through a playlet--"Once upon a sometime street". Mrs. Ethel "Redman gave two readings and Mrs. Reta Reader' conducted a contest on place names of Can- ada. The prize winners were Mrs. Ruth Heayn and Mrs. Clara Dowson. IN AND OUT OF TOWN Mr. and Mrs. George W. Samells, Lilla Street, were hon- oured guests on Saturday even- ing at the Oddfellows Lodge 'Hall in Port Perry. The social evening, arranged by their - children, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce V. Mackey and Mr. and Mrs. Earl G. Bailey, was held in honour of the couple on the occasion-of their 40th wedding anniversary. % * * Mr. and Mrs. Doug Bradley, 'Kim and Stephen of Uxbridge, 'visited Mrs. W. S. Nott one day last week. ; * * *® The Boy Scout Paper Drive on Saturday, in spite of the bad weather and driving conditions was quite successful with the scouts and volunteers collecting some 7% tons of papers. This was the first of five paper drives that the scouts partici pate in throughout the year. - * * * Mrs. Louise Patterson, Port Perry, demonstrated rug hook- ing in St. Marks Anglican Church Oshawa, the later part of 'January. She was ably as sisted by Mrs. Orval Heayn. Christie of Port Perry, partici- pated in the 93rd Annual Con- vention of the Ontario Veterin- ary Association held at the Inn on the Park for four days last week. Featuring over 50 presenta- tions covering all aspects of veterinary medicine, this meet- ing attracted some 500 veterin- arians, wives and guests from Ontario, United States & Great Britain. Winner of the girls' high triple was Marie Veale. Win- ner of the boys' high triple was Ken Parish, Bill Michell was the winner of the boys' high single. Donna Robertson was the winner of the girls' high single, A team of five boys and a team of 5 girls will represent Ontario county at the Zone Bowling Tournament in Oshawa on February 8, 1967. The boys' team consists of Charles Sutter, John Wilson, Juniors Bowling Party Ken Parish, Bill Michell & Jim Wilson.
