The meeting opened with the Ode and Mary Stewart Collect. Mrs. Phoenix welcomed the guest speaker Miss Donna Ste- wart and the members who braved the icy road conditions to come out. The Pres. then read the Centennial Hymn. The Citizenship and Educa- tion report was given on Peels New Poultry Plant in Port Perry. Miss Stewart, Home Econo- mist from the Dept. of Agricul- ture and Food reported on a Food Forum to be held March 9th in the Uxbridge United Church Education wing. The topic of Miss Stewart's address was on her recent visit to Venezuela, and South Ameri- ca concerning their living hab- its, dress, food and etc. Espe- cially interesting was the na- tive dishes, also the natives at- titudes of living only for the present. Miss Stewart was thanked by Mrs. Tait for com- ing to us on such a treacherous night. The topic was given by Mrs. Tait and Mrs. cussed the Canada Label pro- ject. A contest was conducted by 'Mrs. Phoenix and the meet- G. Beaton dis= ing closed with the Queen and Institute grace. Lunch was served by the group in charge. Mrs. H. Phoenix, Mrs. Tait and Mrs. A. Anderson. The Institute Euchre was very well attended (considering the stormy weather) in Green- bank Hall on Feb. 24th. There was 20 tables of cards and cro- kinole. All enjoyed the even- ing until several cars hit some very deep snow drifts on their journey home. The Junior Choir sang "The Lord is My Shepherd". The monthly meeting of the W.M.S. was held at the home of Mrs. Ray Graham on Wed, March 1st at 8.15 p.m. The members of Burn's Fel lowship group enjoyed a skat. ing party at the Brooklin arena on Saturday night and returned to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Emm for refreshments., The congregational meeting on Thurs., March 2nd was well attended when Building and Finance Committees were ap- pointed. Mr. and Mrs. V. Hamilton, of Belleville were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Grant Parrott. Mr. and Mrs. Sam Arnold, of Scugog, visited at the home of Mr. and- Mrs. -Nelson Ashton during the week. There was an attendance of thirty at the second party for the season held in_ the Com: munity Centre on Tuesday, Feb. 28th. Twenty-eight played progres: sive _euchre and two gentlemen enjoyed a game of checkers.
