Owing to this Mrs. C. Newnham and Mrs. James Doupe had arranged a fare- well party therefore nearly 30 close neighbours and friends assembled in the Newnham home last Saturday night. The evening started off with a rous- ing sing song of old familiar hymns. After which" Mr. and Mrs. B. Snelgrove took every- one on an interesting trip through the western provinces via their colourful pictures. At this time Mr. and Mrs. Pearce the honoured guests were re- quested to occupy the piano bench. Mrs. F. Gibson read an appropriate address after which Mr. F. Gibson presented the gifts to.each, a topaz pendant to Mrs. Pearce and a set of cuff links to Mr, Pearce for which both sincerely voiced appreciation. A reading, 'Taxes by Mrs. B. Smith and an article entitled "Moving" by Mrs. L. Beacock. A liberal lunch was served amid an hour of social- bility. Mrs. Mac Christie played hostess for the April meeting of the G.N.S. Club. GREENBANK NEWS Sunday was a beautiful day here' in our village. A good crowd attended church services. Mr. and Mrs. Brian McGregor of Ottawa are spending a few days with Mr. and Mrs. Robert Baird. Cawker 24 members dnd 4 visitors were present at the April meet- ing of the, Guild, held at the spacious home of Mrs. Wm. Wakeford, Cochrane St. The Pres. Mrs. Louise Patter- son presided over the meeting, opening in usual form with "The Lord's Prayer". Those present were given a warm word of welcome by the Pres. Members were informed that the Masonic Temple will be available Aug. 12th, for the Annual Rug and Art Exhibition. Concerted efforts are being made by all members to have a most interesting and varied Ex- hibition in this Centennial year. Members are asked to dress in ,lold time costume for this im- portant event. Plans are on the way to have a bus trip to the Rug Studio at 'Vineland, instead of the regular | meeting in May. The commit- tee appointed to charter the bus and make the necessary arran- gements are: Mrs. Sam Naples, Mrs. Grant MacDonald and Mrs. Allen Martyn. ; Mrs. Violet Skerratt has kindly offered her home for the June meeting. . Each member is requested to take along some article in the line of Handicraft which she has made herself.
