Cornish Public School On Saturday morning 75 Brownies accompanied by several adults left the Scout Hall by bus to go to Pioneer Village. : On our arrival we ate lunch and broke into groups to tour the different build- ings. First we saw Roblin's flour mill which was powered by a water wheel which operat- ed two runs of stones cap- able of producing 100 bar- rels of flower daily. We saw The Daniel Strong Farm (1816 to 1832) which includes five buildings. The Grain Barn, The Piggery, The Settler's first house, The Smoke House and The Sett- ler"s Second house. At the Harness Shop and Saddlery (1850) the artisan hand-craft- ed leather articles used by villagers and farmers and re- paired broken harness, reins, traces and breeching. We saw the Outdoor Bake Oven (1830) that holds fifteen large loaves of bread. The Half Way House was Toronto to Kingston Road. The blacksmith shop is where the blacksmith tends his forge. The Burwick House was a fine dwelling of the country gentleman.
