King, Programme Director, Canadian Tubercu- losis Association, the speaker at the annual meeting of the Ontario County Tumerculosis and Health Association. Her subject 'From Here to There' was timely, as she spoke of the past achievements of the voluntary TB Association. In Canada, there are approxim- ately 5,000 new active cases yearly, and 1,000 re-activa- tions. At least, 15 million people suffer from infectious tuberculosis in the world to- day, and at least 3 million die from TB each year. In order that we may more effectively cope with the hard core TB problem, it has become necessary to broaden our base of activity in res- piratory diseases, or "RD" as they are called. Over 18 miliion Canadians "are ill for an average of 1 week a year with RD; the list of respiratory disease is very long -- over 50. RD ac- counts for more lost time from work and school than any other disease. And em- physema has increased be- tween 400 and 500 per cent in recent years. Dr. Margaret R.
