AS i gi a Ht AGI I ii on nmi ES AE Oe \ -- a, Seagrave News ES -- a bw all 1} . age SE Gu fl ; VA P i} NE, This time we will follow the example of the Epsom correspondent and give the bad news first. Bethel people were shock- ed to hear of the sudden death on Tuesday, July 11th of Mr. Fred Wray. Although he and his family have lived in Toronto quite a few years they have been frequent vi- sitors to the home place. We extend sympathy to his wife, sons and daughter and to his brother Ken, and sister Ida. Mr. Wilfred Sturman is confined to Port Perry hos- pital with congestion due to asthma. His family had planned a surprise party on Saturday evening to cele- brate their parent's 35th wedding anniversary so re- ceived special permission to bring their father home for a few hours. He found him- self quite ready to return at the end of the evening. Mr. and Mrs. Les Sturman and infant son of Cannington missed the celebration but spent Sunday with Mrs. Stur- man and Jean. A few days ago Mr. and Mrs. Alex Chalmers of West Kilbride, Scotland arrived by air for a visit with Mr. and Mrs. Robt. Nodwell. Their friendship with the Nodwells dates from war time when Bob was overseas and was renewed a couple of years ago when Bob and daughter Rosemary were on a trip to Scotland. On Sunday Bill, Rosemary and David Hilbert PORT PERRY STAR -- Thursday, July 20th, 1967 -- 5 from Hamilton came hme to greet Mr. and Mrs. Chalmers and many other friends and relatives called. Congratulations and best wishes go to newly-weds Mr. and Mrs. John Skelton whose marriage took place in Sea: grave church on Saturday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Morley Bruce entertained Mr. and Mrs. Don MacKinnon during the week-end. Miss Joyce Bruce spent the week with grandpa and grandma Bruce near Port Perry. On Sunday Mr. and Mrs. J. S. MacFarlane were dinner guests at the summer home of Mrs. Ron Peel, Port Perry. Mr. and Mrs. E. Dregar of Toronto were down home with Mr. F. Watson this week end. The Ron Wanamaker fa- mily of Oshawa were visiting relatives here on Saturday. During his holidays last week Gordie McMillan paid a visit to his cousin Wally McMillan who is playing baseball for a London team this year. Doug McMillan had some holidays too but didn't go anywhere and that's news too. We seem to have several bits of news which aren't really news yet. For exam- ple we are told that in a few days we can expect definite word that Mr. J. S. Mac. Farlane has completed a sale whereby their farm home passes into other hands. Then coming up is a holi- day next week for our mer- chant B. Wanamaker and his wife who expect to take off while their sons are avail es STORE HOURS 8:30 to 9:00 Te Except Tuesday 8:30 to 1:00 SATURDAY 8:30 to 6:00 able to manage the store. Still another coming event concerns Mr. Bill Barr. He will spend next week, July 24th - 28th travelling around among Eaton Stores as com- panion of the great Gordie Howe of hockey fame. How do you suppose Bill will ever get down to chasing pigs after that? We just barely recognized Mr. Harris on Sunday when he returned to the pulpit for the first time since May 21. Attendance was about aver- age. Flowers were placed in the church in memory of Mrs. Copeland whose death was reported last week. Next Sunday's speaker? Again in doubt but probably Mr. Ed. McCaig of Greenbank. At S.S. little girls of the Jr. class, Janet Abraham, Ca- thie Carr, Arlene Watts and Nancy Espie illustrated by flannelgraph the story of Jesus visiting Mary and Mar- tha. 83 persons attended S. S. but there were no birth- days reported. S.
