Davey, Susan and Stephen accompanied by Mrs. R, Dav- ey spent Saturday evening with Mr. & Mrs. Sam Grant and boys, Oshawa. They en- joyed seeing colour films of their recent trip to Ireland and England this summer. They visited Mr. and Mrs. Eric Samptson at Selsie Eng- land ,enjoyed English opera, a swim in the ocean and many other Historical build- ings. In Ireland they visited with Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Grant and families; also did some mountain climbing and had many family picnies includ- ing seeing the Blarnye Stone. They report Bambridge Ire- land hasn't changed. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Beech made a business trip to Belle- ville. We welcome Mr. and Mrs. J. Smith to Burketon. Mrs. C. Cooper, Orono with Mrs. M. Bryant. Church Service and Sun- day School is held at 11.45. Everyone welcome. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Dean Hodgson, Ajax who celebrated their 40th Wedding Anniversary on Nov. 19th. Several attended the Dur- ham County Junior Farmer Dance held at Solina Com- munity Hall Saturday even- ing and report an enjoyable evening spent there. Mr. Douglas Taylor and Dianne, Bowmanville were Sunday visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Taylor and June. Stephenson. It is hoped that a school will be opened this January, 1968, in Reach Township, and will serve the surrounding townships. Work in the Association has progressed rapidly, un- der the guidance of Mr. Pet- er Gomery, Coordinator of Development for the Associa- tion for the Mentally Retard- ed for the Province of Ont- ario, Area Superintendents, Mr. McLelland and Mr. Shep- pard, and Mrs. M. B. Dymond President of the local asso- Should such a school com- mence in January, there will be absolutely no cost to par- ents of mentally handicapped children, even transportation being provided. At least eighty per cent of mainten- ance of the school will be borne - by the Provinee of Ontario (Government). Already, chartered mem- berships have been received from citizens of Cartwright, Scugog, Port Perry, Reach, Uxbridge, etc. Citizens and parents who are-intcrested in helping develop this new school are requested to con: tact Mrs. M.
