The first period Newcastle opened the scoring from a scramble in front of the net. Port came back with a lot of hustle and digging by John McMillan who put it on to Mert McKee's stick, and Mert made no mistake. This seem- ed to spark the Flamingo's and they-put the pressure on. Dale McNenly put number 2 in for Port with a passing plav from John McMillan to Mert McKee onto Dale's stick. Number 3 came from Neil Pascoe to Carl Roberts to Jorry Taylor and Port were 3-1 in front to end the firs} period. The second period was Port's downfall.
