Club was held at the home of Connie Swain Thur. 14th with 22 members and 3 visitors attending. Min- 'utes were read & approved. Jean Porrill reported 'she had attended the Parks Bd. meeting -and they approved whatever 'the O.N.O. would see fit to do to the Recrea- tion floor. A discussion fol- lowed and it was decided to get more estimates before decision made. The O.N.O. will again ser- ve the lunch at the High School At Home March 29. Noreen Malcolm, who is helping Mrs. Crawford Port Perry with canvassing for the cancer fund will contact all O.N.O. girls re their as- signed district. Corespondence consisted of a letter announcement. of the Fashion Show April 5th by St. John's Church la- dies and a "thank you" from Eleanor Werry. Joan Paisley announced a Red Cross Blood Donor Clinic in Port Perry in May. Moved by Ruby Van Camp, seconded by Shirley Turner that O.N.O. assist this drive by phoning prospective don- ors. The roll call was an- swered by wearing some- thing green and telling an Irish Joke. The girls were then enter- tained by a fashion show, sponsored by Kay Van dress shop and David Hair Stylist. Joan Paisley was the com- mentator, Kathleen Dorrell, Catherine Corden, Donna Kyte and Jean Porrill were models. At the Farmer's Bonspiel in .Port Perry Friday the trophy was won by a Cart- wright team consisting of Keith Van Camp, Herb. Swain, - Harold Swain and Murray Byers. The trophy was presented by H. M. Kyte Lumber Co. Itd. Another team from Cart- wright competed and receiv- ed smaller prizes: This team was Roy McLaughlin, NEWS Harold McLaughlin, Harvey Graham and Ralph Larmer. Altho quite foggy for driving, very good congrega- tions attended services in both churches Sunday morn- ing. - In the United 6 young ladies sang "He Giveth His Blessing" to the tune of Ash Grove. Rev. P. Rom- eril chose as the theme for his- sermon "The Tragedy of Power". . . In St. John's Rev. R. C. Rose spoke on "The Sin of Gluteny." St. Patrick's Day Communion was commemor- ated. Prize winners at the In- stitute euchre Wednesday night were high lady -- Mrs. Frank Staniland, as high gent -- Mrs. Frank Hoskin. Birthday in March Mr. and Mrs, Lester Russel. A good number of rela- tives and friends visited at the Morris Funeral Home, Bowmanville, Sunday or at- tended of the the funeral Monday, late Mrs. Norman Wright. of Enniskillen and former resident of Cart- wright... na The A.C.W. meeting, held in the Parish Hall, Mar. 14, opened by the members sing- ing. a hymn: Mrs. Graham, president, led in the Devo- tional period. The corres- pondence included an inter- esting letter about Old Crow Mission 'regarding the con- fusion of the old and new type of living and the help needed for the youth in this modern and changing world. Mrs. McLaughlin, Dorcas sec'y. reported a quilt fini- she ane sold, she also read parts of a News Letter which listed many items needed by the diocesan Dorcas Dep't. The ladies were very. grate- ful to Miss Dora Dempsey, Stratford, for quantities of yarn which she donated for Dorcas Work. Good used clothing will .be accepted for the Bale during this month. The Sunshine and Dep't. of Family Life Secretaries both reported cards sent. The meeting was closed with the Benediction by the Presi: dent, after which, the mem- bers worked for over an hour-on a quilt, for the bale, which had been prepared be- fore the meeting. A tasty lunch, prepared by Mrs. Green and Mrs. Hamilton was enjoyed by all. Cartwright High School ~ Students Entertain 'On' the evenings of March 14 and 15, Cartwright High School presented three one- act plays. Each of the three plays was presented by a High School House and on Friday evening the plays and actors were judged. The Ali Cats received the prize for the best play. The 'Best Actress was Lorraine Turner; the Best Actor was Jim Clement; the Best Sup- porting Actress was Linda McLaughlin; the Best Sup- porting Actor was John Lar- mer; and the Best Character Portrayal was Donna Swain. Nadia Schwartz and Gail Hart were chosen as the Best Play Directors. Refreshments were served and the evenings were en- joyd by all. - Mrs. Roy Avery and son Carlyle, Tillbury aré spend- ing the holidays with her mother Mrs. J. A. Johnston. Mr. and Mrs. Keith John- ston and girls, Millbrook were Monday dinner guests and all attended the funeral of Mr. John Rowland, Mill- brook, on Monday. Miss Edna Larmer spent the week-end at home and went to Toronto with Mr. & Mrs. Walt Larmer Monday for a visit. Sargeant and ~ Mrs. K. Strang and 'boys, Oshawa, spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Larmer and families. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Van Camp and family visited her parents Mr. and Mrs. Roy Morrow, Hilton on Sunday. Louise remained for a few days. Mr. and Mrs. Wilbert Ar- cher visited the Elmer Ar- chers, Whitby, Friday even- ing.
