Gordon Scott, being Johnnie on the spot scored Port Perry sec- ond goal at 14:15. No Penal- ties in this period. Hard skating and excep- tional goal tending by both goalies made the second period very interesting. P. Heintzman took a charging penalty at 10.42 for Oak Ridges. The Port Perry boys could not break through the fine defensive playing of Oak Ridges. - M. Green broke through the Port Perry defence at 14:30 to get Oak Ridges 1st goal. 'Sean Taylor off for tripp- ing at the 6:30 mark in the 3rd period, and Gord Stucliff having the advantage for Oak Ridges scored at 7:48 to tie the game. Michael Green putting the game away for Oak Ridges scoring at 9:12. Port Pery boys, try as they might couldn't get that equalizer. Oak Ridges 3, Port Perry 2 * * * Third game Sun., March 31 Port Perry, determined to . go ahead-in this series play- ed a very strong game. With lots of scoring opportunities for both teams Oak Ridges opened the scoring with only 30 seconds remaining in the first period. Jerry Madaleno, assisted by Mike Green. No penalties. In the second period the Port Perry boys were now on the defensive with Oak Ridges holding the one goal lead. The Port Perry Coach Meredith McKee very care- fully assessed the plays, but the best either team could do was to each get a penalty. Paul Litt for holding at 5:32 and Engel for Oak Ridges for -boarding at 11:19. No scoring. After a ten minute rest the Port Perry Club came charging out to beat this perky Oak Ridges team. At 7:35 Sean Taylor assisted by the fine play making of Tim Ashbridge scored Port Perry only goal. . Also the final goal of the game. Port. Consolation On Saturday, March 30 a team made up of 5 pee wee all stars and 7 house league players travelled to Oakwood where they took part in a Pee Wee Hockey Tourna- ment. The boys, coached by Don Bronson, and Dave 'Kyte, brought home the con- solation trophy. The first game was lost 10-2 to Peterborough. Randy Prosser and Doug Christie tallied for Port Perry. Port howgver fought back in the second game to defeat Cedar Hill 5-2. Van Camp and Prosser had two each | while Evans added a single. It should be noted that goalie Dave Dalton up from 'the house league turned. inf outstanding performances in both the 2nd and 3rd games. In the third game Port Perry downed Oshawa's re- presentative to win the con- solation trophy. The score was 5-2. Gunter's team gained entry to the finals by eliminating Jeffer- ies Lion's earlier in the week by a score of 3-1. Goal getters for Campbell were Nesbitt, Huntington & Tom- chishin-a goal each and Rick Campbell four goals. Nesbitt also picked up four assists. For Gunter's, Lee, Johnston, Carnighan and Asselstine scored. 'PEE WEE-- In the Pee Wee Finals Gary Geer's Annrene Bruins took the first game by de: feati Lary Best's Legion- aires 8-1. Ken Jeffery and Huffman scored for the Bruins. Chris Brain scored the goal for the Legion team NOVICE-- In the Novice Finals Lake Scugog Lumber Kings gained the chance to compete a- gainst Luke Merchants' by eliminating Cartwright 2-0 in an extra Semi Final game played earlier in the week. In the game between Luke's and Lumber Kings Phil Co- chrane scored the winning goal of the game. as Luke's won -1-0. This was a real close thrilling game in which both teams went all out.
