Another moving . week comes to the 14th concess- ion, By the time this item appears in print, Mr. and Mrs. J.-S. MacFarlane will be occupying their new home in Port Perry and Mr. and Mrs. Don Crosier and family will have moved to their farm near Prospect. Both families will be much missed in our community and church. Another land = deal con- cerns the Wm. Keen lot on the S. E. corner of the vill age. It has been sold to an Oshawa buyer. Mr. A. Switzer who has been preparing a foundation in what was formerly the school yard, received his in- stant house on Saturday and expects to have a home ready soon. Glenn Wanamaker has the recipe for a good sale. His auction consisted of about 400 items, large and small, old and new, drew a large crowd. Of course being well- known and having good weather helped some. Mr. Austin Mitchell of Toronto, Mr. and Mrs: Edwin Mitchell of Galt and Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Taylor of Bobcay- geon were on hand to help their sister, Mrs. Wanamak- er. Mr. and Mrs. Taylor spent Friday night with an- other sister, Mrs. Bert Dow-- son. Another long time friend of the Wanamakers, Mrs. Geo. Murphy of Lind- say, was also a guest at the sale. Mr. Norm Henderson, who has lived at the Wana- maker home for many years "has retired to his place in Little Britain. The township workmen spent half a day last week putting good Wanamaker soil on Bethel Cemetery but it doesn't look any better vet. Mrs. Harold Howsam of Greenbank drove her moth- er, Mrs. Elwood Clements, and her aunt, Mrs. A. Moon to Peterboro on Tuesday to visit their brother, Mr. Had- win who is quite ill. Reports say that the con- dition of Mrs. Wm, Moase in Oshawa hospital is showing some improvement but sur- gery may be necessary. On Sunday, Mrs. Boe ent- ertained Mr. and Mrs. Ted Suddard and daughters Hea- Seagrave News ther and Patty of Oshawa. Mrs. Newton Dowson of Oshawa and Mrs. Gordon Dowson of Lindsay were din- ner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Dowson on Thursday. For their meeting on June 12, Unit 2 of the U.C.W. have arranged to have Mr, Roame a teacher from Port Perry give a talk about his native country, India. We would welcome visitors to the meeting. - 9.45 a.m. on Sunday came too soon for about half of our Sunday School members, so attendance plunged into the 50's. Lloyd Bruce repre- senting the Y.P. class gave a reading and birthday off- erings came from Diane Barr and Mrs. Nobbs.. The session ended at 10.30 so PORT PERRY STAR -- Thursday, June 6, 1968 -- everyone could go to Green- bank Anniversary. Only a few did so. Others attended service at Pleasant Point where Mrs. Barr and Mrs. Nobbs were helping with the music. Next Sunday, no church, Sunday School at 9.45 with pictures of Japan for the children, shown by Bill Barr then Pinedale Anniversary at 11 o'clock. DEVELOPMEN SPECIALIST SEAL ESTATE 110 MALTON 985-7373 ® = | |a SUGAR & SPICE (continued) I mildly dislike dogs and cats, bores and hypochond- riacs. But I can put up with them. However, when my wife starts -asking. "Which do you like, the-turquoise or the acqua?" that's a house of a different color, and I begin to see red. She's in one of her-annual Spring frenzies and the house is littered with wall- paper books, color charts and carpet swatches. Normally "1 snort, "Why the hell didn't you marry a painfer?", and the battle is on. But she's heen low, phy- sically, and | let my princi- ples 'droop. | painted. And painted. And swore. And grouched. gi I stood up to ease my ach- ing back and caught a cup- board door corner right in the ear. And the blood spurted and I vented a most mighty oath which I haven't | heard since World War II She didn't even squeak for 20- minutes, knowing that one word would have sent her, brush and paint can out the door. Oh, well, I guess one can't be perfect. Now, make your list. '--Toronto Telegram News Service Check The Label On Your Paper LIBERAL - OPEN HOUSE You are cordially invited to meet MR. and MRS.
