AVAL ESTATE AID REALTOR 985.7373 Port Perry Judo Wrestler Shows Promising Career Neil Clark, son of Mr. and | Mrs. Leonard Clark of Port Perry has made quite a name for himself in Judo circles, During the last four years, he has made steadv pro- gres and won in many com. petitions. Leo Haunsberger, Oshawa, who has won his third degree black belt and is president of Ontario, Black Belt Association started Neil on his Judo career. This year, Neil has won several major tournaments, and Saturday he will compete in Kingston, and his aim is to.win this twoday meet, His greatest ambition this year will be to win the Eastern Ontario Championship to be held in Montreal. "Neil is also interested in promoting the sport, and has assisted Mr. Eric Place, who organized the Port Perry Judo Club. Mr. Place is de- voted to this increasingly popular sport and has spent a long time promoting it in Port Perry. Z At a recent tournament in Ajax, Vernon Murray, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ken Murray, and a member of Port Perry Judo Club, won first place and a trophy in the class under 60 lbs. Dave Jackson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ken Jackson placed second in the 120 1bs. class. The Annual Banquet of the Port Perry Rod and Gun Club was held on Friday, October 18th at the United Church Hall. IT "The many people in atten- dance enjoyed a delicious dinner. Numerous door prizes were won and the recipients seem- ed to be pleased with their gifts. An interesting talk was given by-our local Conserva- tion Officer Andy Fletcher. He brought to our attention the Ontario Safetv Hunter Course was made Official in the year 1960. Since its in- ception fatal hunting acci- dents have been drastically reduced. : 1 He also noted that the age| | group between 15-19 vearc account for 309 of all a~ci- dents involving fire arms. Most of these accidents occur while rabbit hunting. One rather startling statis- tic was that a .22 calibre rim fire rifle accounts for the greatest number of fire arm accidents. Messrs. Gerald Jackson and Charlie Lown gave a most in- teresting demonstration and talk on the art of Hand Load- ing Ammunition. Mr. Cec King and Chas. Lown, presented the Pins & Crests to the shooters. Mr. Doug Matthews of Whitby was presented with his Silver Shield, Mr. Joe Draper (who made the trip down from Colling- wood for the occasion) pre- sented the Club Junior Tro- phy to Kathy Jackson. Con- gratulations to Kathy and to all the Shooters who won a- wards, : ; The showing of three very interesting films were part of the evening's programme. The "evening closed by Check The Label On Your Paper Winners Receive Trophies |At Rod, Gun Club Banquet those present viewing a most interesting display- of guns, ranging from the very old- timers up- to modern day weapons.
