Mr. and Mrs. George Beat- on, Mrs. Roy Leask and Mrs. Armour McMillan visited at Fairview Lodge on Sunday, also visited Armour McMillan in Oshawa hospital. Congratulations to Roger Blair who was presented with the McMillan trophy at P. P. Commencement last week. Meeting opened with the Pledge followed by the last meeting's minutes, read by Lynda D. The roll was called and discussion followed on the fly stitch, examples, and a few other matters. Mrs. McMillan and Mrs. Couperthwaite demon: strated the Fly and Roman stitches. All worked on samples of these stitches, then meeting closed with the motto: "We learn to do by doing". IL Twenty-two ladies answer- ed the Roll Call at:the re- gular monthly W.I. meeting on Wednesday evening, Nov. 20th at Greenbank Hall, and the Roll Call was "Name a duty the Dominion Govern- ment is responsible for". After keeping them wondering for over a month, about 60 of their friends assembled 'on Friday evening at the. Cliff Short home to await the re- turn of Jack and Ona from Cambray, They 'returned eventually and were treated to a proper charivari with a truck ride down to the store where the treats were hand- ed out. Writing of the store and treats, we are reminded that Santa is on his way and has promised Bert that he will be 'there for sure on the af- ternoon of Sat., Dec. 7th, so be on hand for your candy and coffee. One of our sick, Joanne Nobbs, is at home again. She returned from Sick Childrens Hospital on Tues. Mrs. M, Stone is coming along much better now and has hopes of an early discharge. Aubrey Moon also should be home soon. } The Nobbs family attended the Bondergard - Tapscott wedding in Ajax on Satur- day. Mrs. Nobbs is an aunt of the bride. The Nodwell visitors came became a celebrity over- night, after which Mrs. Tait showed some slides on her trip to Florida. Meeting closed with Junch and a social half hour. Group in charge were Mrs. Mero, Mrs. M. Beaton, Mrs Donald. in waves this week. Mrs. Bill Hilbert, David and the cat came from Hamilton on Wednesday. Bill Hilbert her husband came on Friday and his father and mother Mr. and Mrs. Don Hilbert came on Saturday. Some of our grandmothers had busy week-ends. Kim- mie Tobin of Blackstock was entertained by grandma To- bin and: Laurie Anne Wilson of Scugog by grandma Butt. We got well started on Christmas hymns this week. Like Santa they come a bit earlier each year. At S. S. the beginners class had some queer ideas about making a picture. Mrs, J. Hallett read a story and Mrs. C. Short tried to guide the placing of the figures but didn't always succeed so some animals landed in the sky. Needless to say the youngsters were happy. Birthdays this week were Mrs. Belair, Allan Espie and Darlene Maschke, and at- tendance was 75. At a meeting of the 3 con. gregations on Monday even- ing at Greenbank it was de- cided to extend a call to Rev. Leslie A. Cretch. Mr. Cretch is from Newfoundland but is currently taking a post-gra- duate course in New York.
