ARTHUR LEIGHTON Following an illness of a few days, Mary Elizabeth Leighton, passed quietly away in Port Perry Commun- ity Hospital, Monday, Janu- ary 13th, 1969. She was in her '79th year. A daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Edward Fines, she was born in Yorkshire, Eng- land. Here she received her education and lived until she married Arthur Leighton, January 1st, 1912, They came to Canada and took up resi- dence on Scugog Island. Over forty years ago, they purchased a farm two miles West of Blackstock which they worked together until Mr. Leighton passed away, May 12th, 1960. Mrs. Leighton rented the fanm--and- lived -there-alone until two years ago when she moved to an apartment in Blackstock. She was a mem- ber of the United Church. Left to mourn her are two daughters Jennie (Mrs. Frank Bailey), Mae (Mrs. Hector Shortridge), two grandsons --Allan Bailey & Bill Short- ridge and three great grand. daughters. Funeral service was held January 15th at McDermott Panabaker Chapel and was conducted by Rev. P. Rom- eril. Interment was in Union Cemetery Cadmus. Pall bearers were Messrs.
