Following a report of a meeting by reeve Robert Kenny in regard to Regional Government held in Good- wood January 9, council at the last regular meeting dec- ided to have a meeting planned for Port Perry. According to Mr. Kenny informations received from the Goodwood meeting were limited, and it was further suggested to invite thé Hon. M.B. Dymond, and a repres- entative from the Department of Municipal Affairs be asked to attend to obtain added information in regard to Reg- ional Government, and what possible action the municip- ality should take. Storey Beare Speaker At Lions Club District-deputy governor Storey Beare -was speaker at a fairly well attended meeting of the Port Perry Lions Club at Club Annrene, Monday night. _ He was introduced to 30 members present by Art Pana- baker, and spoke primarily on the many phases of services Lions International contribute to the World through clubs in almost every country. Wm. Bradford extended thanks to the speaker on behalf of the ~ club members. Two guests were intro- duced, Irving Jewel and Joe Podres. In the past 25 years the death rate from uterine cancer has declined 50%. If all women would have annual Pap Tests deaths from this form of cancer would be practically eliminated. To help conquer other types of cancer, the Canadian Cancer Society needs funds to continue its support of research.
