On Wednesday evening, November 26th, 27 attended the' "Head Mystery Sister Banquet at "Grace" Church. The "Centre" ladies had pre- pared a sumptuous meal which they served upon beautifully decorated tables. After dining to our satis- faction, the president present- ed several reminders and Mrs. Myrtle Manns gave a summary of 1969 activities. Mrs. Bonnie Gerrow gave a summary of the financial operations. Three hospitalized friends Mrs. Gert- ie Collins, Mrs. Marion Hughes and Mrs. Sylvia Parker were missed so everyone signed cards to convey our best wishes to them. Gifts were exchanged and candles in fancy little wheel- barrow place favours were lit to divulge the names of the Mystery Sisters. To A very interesting program followed "including contests, games and Christmas readings. We wish to express our apprec- iation to Myrtle Manns and Joyce Heayn for arrangement and to Grace Love and Clara Dowson for the well prepared program. : On the following Sunday six small children were presented by their parents for Holy Baptism at Church. They were the children of Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Chandler, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Wilson, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Tripp, Mr. and Mrs. Terry Chandler and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Ballingall. Many of the grandparents were present for the occasion. This Sunday will be white gift Sun- day at "Grace". The children may present gifts wrapped or unwrapped. The toys may be new or used and in' good condition. They will later be given to the children in Orillia or other places where there is a need. Allan ~~ Bertrand, now a councillor, lost his seat and a third newcomer, Vaughan Deacon was unsuccessful in his bid for a position on the council. Topping the polls was Fred Christie, 583 votes; 'Armour McMillan 527; Arthur Catton, 463; Vaughan Deacon, 230; Allan Bertrand, 209. Mrs. Lucille Gray, member of council for the last five years including deputy-reeve for one year was successful in her bid for the seat. She received 467 votes against her opponent Allan Crosier's 381. Mr. Crosier was a councillor during the last two-year term, Mrs. Gray topped the polls in the 1967 election for councillors, Following the death of deputy-reeve, Chester Geer about a year ago, Mrs. Gray was appointed to that position for the balance of the term. Ed (Sam) Oyler received an acclamation at the nomin- ation of candidates and will head the council, Mr. Oyler, Warden of Ontario County, will begin his 14th year as a member of Reach Township council, and his 'eighth as reeve, According to clerk-treasur- er, Alex Johns about 40% of 'eligible voters made use of their franchise and voted for the candidates of their choice.
