- Seagrave News The Church caretaker had things pretty easy last week with only choir practice and a pancake euchre. "Unit 1, U.C.W. served the usual sweet foed to about the usual crowd of pancaké eaters on Wed. evening. After . all were satisfied a few rounds of euchre finished off the evening, High and low scorers were: Ladies -- Mrs. VW. Stone and Mrs. Venner. Gents--Larry Short & Lloyd Bruce. Travelling prizes went to Mrs. Clements and Mr. Venner. Last week Len Somerville stepped on a piece of ice and ended up in hospital with an injured back. He hopes to be home about the middle of tnis week. On Saturday Mr. and Mrs. Neil Wanamaker attended the marriage of Donna's cou- sin Miss Hope Taylor and Mr. Gary Polsen in Beaver- ton United Church, Our week-end visitors in- cluded' Marilyn McMillan, Clifford Moon and Bil] Wana- maker at home from the big city, Master Brian Rowan of Bethany visiting his cousins at the Ken Sturman honie and Mr. and Mrs. Dave New- man of St. Catharines with the Venners. Your correspondent got the surprise: of her life on Sunday morning when Mr. Critich by a misleading ex- cuse lured her to the front of the Church where Super- Supt. McMillan read a Short address and presented a very beautiful bible, All this was in recognition of 40' years service as a S.S. teacher. Some of those years were at Greenbank away back when ----Thanks everyone, There were 3 more at S.S. than at church. 70 and 73 were the numbers. At S.S. our newest supt., Bruce Carr was in charge for the first time and acted just like an old pro. Diane Barr made her first appearance for the year as pianist in- training. We have 4 of these, the others being Catherine Nich- olls, Bonnie Short and Joyce Bruce. Eleven members Intermediate class sang "Jesus Bids us Shine". We find no fault with their sing- ing but did they really need those books? Young Joey Bero Marched up and dropped a few pen- nies in the birthday bo¥X. Euchre Sat- urday evening. There were 17 tables. The prizes were many -and the high 'ladies' prize went to Mrs, Jean Hun- ter and Mrs. Robt. Leask. High Man's prize to George Stone and Dave Thomson, the various other prizes were won'by Marie Cookman, John Look, Clark Blakely, Gayle McLeod, Evelyn Tait, Fred Phoenix and Marian Couper- thwaite. The regular Euchre will be held on Friday night, Feb. 27th as usual. Mr. and Mrs. E. Cross of Toronto, Mr. and Mrs. Bill McMillan, Sherri and Ricky of Uxbridge, were dinner guests of Mr and Mrs. Arm- our McMillan last Tuesday evening. Mr. Paul Diamond spent Saturday visiting Mrs. Dia- mond who is a patient in Western Hospital and reports that Minnie. will be home on Monday. We hope she will be feeling much better soon. Sunday guests at the EI- wood Clements home were her sister, Mrs. M. Moon and Clifford Moon, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Somerville of Colum- bus and Mr. and Mrs. Reg. Philip of Port Perry. Mrs. George Beare has been visiting with her sister Mrs. Herb Alexander of Fort Erie, for a few days. . Mr. and Mrs. Paul Studin- ski of Hamilton were with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Neil Hunter on the week-end.
