Ontario County Appoints (Insurance Consultants The appointment of Frank Cowan Company Limited, of Princetown, as insurance con- sultants was approved by Ontario County Council at its last session. The firm will prepare a report dealing with all as- pects" of the county's insur- ance needs, provide -estim- ates of amounts and limits of insurance, give a detailed re- port of a recommended pro- gram compared with the present coverage. Council also endorsed a resolution from Peterborough County calling on the depart- ment of municipal affairs to amend the Assessment Act which provides a penalty of 6 per cent be charged to municipalities which do not pay their county rates' by Dec. 20 of each year. Council felt the provision is out of date as the borrowing rate for counties is now 8.5 per cent. A resolution from Grey County, calling on the Ont- ario Hospital Services Com- quire medical and mission to extend its services to cover all persons who re- - or nurs- ing care in licensed nursing homes and to all persons in chronic or convalescent hos- pitals, was also endorsed. It was agreed to contribute $129,290 to the "Children's Aid Society of the County of Ontario and the City of Osh- awa, which has a total 1970 budget of $865,719. Last week's home assign- ment was taken up and the minutes of the last meeting were read by the secretary and approved by the presi- dent. The next meeting will be on April 4th at Mrs. Martyn's. The trip to be held on March 24th was discussed. The club plans to travell to Bruce Mills Conservation area in Markham Township and ob- serve the making of maple sugar & syrup.
