A final decision is expected to be made at a future meeting, According to the proposal, the board would pay to bring county students attending the Belleville school* to a central point in Oshawa on Friday nights and then return them to Belleville Sunday evening Arrangements might be made with school boards east of Oshawa to transport students from those counties as well. These boards would share the cost with the Ontario County board. According to information presented at the meeting, it is believed the trip would cost $140 per week and 34 county students would be involved. Several trustees voiced concern that the board might. ~ have to carry the whole cost of the venture, if .co- operation from other boards was not obtained. [ FISHER- PRICE students Others argued the service should be provided, even if the board has to pay the total ~cost, "If we can transport our more fortunate students every day, surely we can transport our deaf students once a week," : Trustee Alex Williamson," Trustee Stanley Lovell said board members were not opposed to the plan, but wanted to know more of the details. The program was approved in principle at the * last board meeting, he said, On = another recom- mendation, the board agreed to pay the costs of tran- sporting "very able" music students from county high schools for a weekly Practice at O'Neill Collegiate. The "administration was requested to present a report on the success and cost of the program in December, According to Mr. Munroe, the program is designed to develop leading student musicians, It is hoped that ap- proximately 75- students will take part, at a cost to the board of 50 cents each per trip, said Mr. Munroe.
