ai | Tuck Shop successful enterprise The regular monthly meet- ing of the Ladies Auxiliaryto the Community Hospital was . held on the. third- Monday: of - - the Month, April 17th, 1972 at 2 pm. The President, Mrs. Elea- nor Davidson opened the meeting with a challenging poem entitled 'Recipe for Trouble." There was an attendance of 27. Thanks were extended to Jeanne Goode for opening her home to the Auxiliary for a party held on April 6th. 'During this party Mrs. Butson demonstrated the art of Antiquing with tin-foil which was much enjoyed by all present. Mary Callan, wool con- venor, gave her report and also there was a beautiful display of items turned in. Anyone willing to knit or crochet could contract Mrs. Callan at 985-7137 and the Auxiliary would gladly pro- vide the wool. It is just impossible to keep up with the demand for hand-knitted and crocheted items for the Tuck Shop. PORT PERRY STAR -- Wednesday, April 26, 1972-13 Spring break-up late If one uses the breakup and disappearance of the ice on Lake Scugog as an indicator that spring has really ar- rived, it appears as though it may be a little while yet. Last year, the ice went out on April 21, but as of the 24 of April this year there was still lots of ice in the bay at the - south end of the lake. Although "there were a couple of very warm days - last week, cool temperatures during the last few days have .not helped to speed up the melting of the ice. If these abnormally cool tempera- tures prevail, it may be several days yet before the ice is completely gone from the lake. Areport last week from the office of AL. Featherstone, Control and Property Mana- ..ger-- of --the--Trent -- Canal System indicated Lake Scu- gog is 18 inches above maximum control level, and all stops were out at the Lindsay dam, which controls the level of the lake. The report indicated that the peak was probably reached over the week-end. Georgetown and- munities in the lower Ottawa Valley.
