CRSA Blackstock News An evening of historical importance as well as one of social enjoyment was Friday evening's official Open House and Opening Cere- monies of the newly renova- ted Cartwright Recreation Centre. Many residents took "advantage of this opportunity - to tour the new facilities of the building - Municipal Offices" Clerk Doreen Van Camp welcomed the guests. Chairman of the Cartwright Recreational Board, Harvey _ Graham acted as Chairman of the evening's ceremonies. He welcomed those present and gave a brief resume of the history of the renovation programme. He explained that the repairs cost a total of $40,556. and that a grant of $8,556, is expected to be received. The lovelystage "curtains had been donated by the 0.N.O. Club. The cost of these repairs will be paid off in two years-last year and this year. He then iiitroduced the members of the Recrea- tiopal Board often referred to as Parks Board as follows Vice-Chairman - Merrill VanCamp, Don Frew, Nor- man Mairs, 'Mrs, L. Mc- Arthur and Mrs. S. Francis. Harvey extended the Board's appreciation to the Black- stock: L.O.L. which - has vacated its quarters in the Rec. Centre and moved to the _former Council Chambers in the Township Hall, to Clerk Treasurer, to the Municipal Council, and to the Road Superintendent and his crew for assisting in the moving of -of the building the quipment of the Muni- cipal Office to its new location and 'to any ofhers who may have assisted. At this point a representa- tive of the firm, Toten, Sims and Hubicki, architects, Mr. Stoddart spoke afew words of congratulation to the Town- ship and presented the keys to "the Contractor Mr, Ted Griffen of Port Perry. Ted congratu- lated the Board and Cart- wright Community on the fine facilities here and poin- ted out that there are very few communities the size of ours which can boast such a fine auditorium as we have . here. He then presented the keys to Mr. Graham who in turn presented them along with a special vote of thanks to the custodians, Hector and 'Mae Shortridge. ~ Lunch served by the mem- bers of the O.N.O. was enjoyed and the remainder of the evening was enjoyed dancing to the fine music of Fay Adams and His Country -- Hits. Better health is wished for both of these ladies. Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Thomp- son and Susan spent Sunday in Toronto visiting their daughter, 'Miss Elizabeth Thompson, Mr. and Mrs." Glenn VanCamp and family, Port Perry, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur. VanCamp and Jayne, Scugog Island were Sunday evening dinner guests of their parents Mr. and Mrs. Harry Van- Camp celebrating Glenn's birthday. On Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. Ernie Swain visited her mother, Mr. Harold Wheeler, whois in Bancroft hospital with a heart attack. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Wheeler were Saturday callers of Mrs. Wheeler. Sunday callers of Mr. and Mrs. Harold McLaughlin and family were Mr. and Mrs. _Harold Wright of Oshawa. Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Marlow and the Art Baileys have returned home from Florida. What miserable weather we have to greet™ them with. Mrs. Velva Bailey spent a week in Mannotick visiting Mrs. Philip Campbell while Mr. Campbell is in- Japan on business.
