Shirley Hoskin, convener of the catering to the Frew wedding read the menu and gave the group leaders their lists. The orchestra has been booked for the New Year's Eve Dance. Lunch and other particulars for our Spring Thaw Dance werediscussed and 3 tickets were handed out to each member to sell. An extension cord is to be boughty for the electric knives at the Rec. Congratulations to the various choirs'who competed in the Music Festival at Peterborough last week. -that-a new flag be purchased - enjoyed the Closing Curling. students Obituary Mrs. Zylpha Annette Jackson Mrs. Zylpha Annette Jack- son, widow of the late Robert James Jackson of Scugog Island died at the Port Perry Nursing Home on Saturday, March 18, 1972, at the age of 94. ler Mrs. Jackson was the seventh in a family of eight children of Isaac and Mary Ann Wells of Reach Town- ship. She came to Scugog as the wife of Robert Jackson at an early age and spent all of her married life at the Jackson: family homestead in the eight Concession of Scugog Township. She was active in The Methodist (later The United Church) and its various organizations. She was a contributor for many years of exhibits at both the Port Perry Fall Fair and the old Port Perry Christmas Fair. After the death of her husband, Robert Jackson, in 1945, she moved to Prince Albert until her illness began in October, 1971. She leaves four daughters -- Bessie - Mrs. Alfred Dowson of Port Perry, Rena - Mrs. Leslie Smith of Prince Albert, Mabel - Mrs. John L. Sweetman of Scugog Island, _Aileen - Mrs. J. Lonnie _ Chamberlain of Toronto and her foster son, Mr. Norman Shunk of Prince Albert. children and one great-great granddaughter. Miss K. Outside of the visit from Rev. Wm. Black and his choir-and-the Hockey play- offs there is little to report. New admissions to the home were Mr, Franklin Duff of Port Perry and Mr. Cecil Newnham of Prince Albert. Both of these gentlemen were transferred from the Port Perry Community Gen- eral Hospital. We 'were honoured Tues- © day evening by a visit from Reverend Black and the choir from the Presbyterian Church. It was a fine relgious hour and opened with the sweet and tuneful hymn "Beulah Land". A prayer was then given by Mr. Black and the. lesson -- from John, 6th chapter read by Mrs. John Williamson. The minister gave a short cheerful talk based on the lessonread earlier and ended with a piece of prose (very true) which he read from the Friendship Book of 1972, November 27th. Mrs. Malcolm was pianist. The choir sang one selection and we all sang a number of favourite hymns, It was a wonderful-evening:- ~~ Mrs. Bruce thanked the visitors on behalf of all of - those who were present and_ so helped by the service. .
