It was his grandmother, a Mrs. Grace Cormack, who started the Grace Hospital in 1919 above the newspaper offices. And it was the late Dr. Robert Archer who brought Mr. Cormack into the world. Residents in this area would be familiar with Mr. Cormack's father, Jas, who recently retired after 52 years as sales representative in this area for the Olivetti-Underwood Company. One interesting aspect to the whole story is that during all the years Mr. Cormack was listing his birthplace as Port Perry, when the official records indicated Toronto, nobody ever checked on this, and until six years ago, Mr. Cormack wasn't even aware that the Registry listed him as having been born in Toronto.
