The Clifford Shorts and Mrs, Gladys Short are likely now in Manitoba. Mr. and Mrs. Gary Twiner are keep- ing an eye on things down at Fish Point. Mr. & Mrs. Venner were in Omemee on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Newman and daughter. The B. L. Wanamakers entertained their long-time friends Mr. and Mrs, Wal- ter Webb of Haliburton on Sunday. Also on Sunday the Bel- airs: journeyed to Kingston to help Mr. R. McAllister celebrate his birthday. Mrs. Clements and Mrs, E. Till 'of Greenbank went along but were dropped off near the Bay of Quinte where they spent the day with Mr. and Mrs, Jas, Michie. Yes. There will be church services in Seagrave next Sunday. The Hi-C clothing for the bale. Nursing Home Week Ontario Nursing Home week has been under way since June 11, and will continue until this Sunday, June 18. The whole purpose of Nur- sing Home Week is to seek support and understanding for nursing homes from the general public, to help them to take their rightfuly place in today's health care picture. ' In keeping with the idea of this theme, the staff- and residents of the Community Nursing Home in Port Perry have been conducting Open House -each afternoon this week from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. ° and will continue to do so until June 18. Visitors to the Nursing Home during thes times will be able to see fo themselves what facilities and activities the home offers, and in addition will be able to talk to the staff and the residents at the home. On Friday evening a special event will be held which will include songs by the "Advocates," a poetry day. ) We are pleased that Mrs, Bruce Bailey is home from the hospital, Mrs. Olive Honey, Mrs. D. Time is 7:00 p.m. The C ommunity Nursing' Home has been open a little more than two years. There are facilities for 54 residents, and more than 35 persons make up the full and part- time staff. These include two full-time and one parttime registered nurses, 4 RNA's and several Nurses' Aides. The home also employs sev- eral students on a parttime basis. Mrs. Grace D'A- ndrade is the Nursing Home director. Across Ontario, there are 483 licensed nursing homes providing 22,000 beds. This figure represents more than 20 per cent of the total health care beds in the province. Indications are that the need for facilities and more beds will increase in the future. In Ontario, there are now 625,000 persons over the age of 65, and this number is increasing at the rate of 20,000 each year.
