Guild meet The Handicraft Guild held its meeting June 14th in the hall of the Presbyterian Hall with 22 ladies present. The president Mrs. Naples opened the meeting with all repeating The Lord's Prayer, Joanie Brethour sent a thank you note to the ladies who helped to finish her mother's hooked rug. Florence Smith has finis- hed the ctochet table cloth for Mary Baird that Mrs. How- sam had started. A handicraft show was disussed for the fall. A card was signed by zll and sent to Mrs. Patterson. Next meeting September 13at Mrs, Hutton's cottage at Snug Harbour. Mrs. Sinclair showed slides of the 7thanniversary and the hooking lace and the trip to Vineland. Some of the girls had some of their work there and it is lovely. Otto (tests) and little Joey Stone are all home again from hospital. Miss Marilyn McMillan from Toronto was with her mother over Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Boe of Beaverton visited Mrs. Reta Boe after the decoration service at Wick on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Newman and daughter of Omemee and Miss Miriam Chant of Tor- onto came to visit at the Venner home on Sunday. Others from Toronto were Mr. and Mrs. Ian Fraser and daughter visiting the Neil Wanamakers. Mr. Walter King has been entertaining part of Walter's family; a sister from Al- berta, another from Colorado - and still another from Mark- ham. All attended the big re-union at Fingerboard School. A brother from Brit- ish Columbia is due to arrive on Wednesday. ' The biggest "coming" of all was the crowd of 32 children from a Toronto public school who were entertained by their teacher Mrs. Bruce Killington for 3 days this week. : "Goings" -- The man who went furthest is Bill Barr. He is off to Japan again on a buying trip. On Tuesday this week, Mr. and Mrs. Morley Bruce, Donna, Bob and Joyce will be heading west for a holiday. The Bruce Carr family spent Sunday in Eden attend- ing the church anniversary there and celebrating a birthday for Mr. Ganton Carr (Bruce's father), . Mr. and Mrs. Don Hunter had Sunday dinner with Mr. and Mrs. Art Uens in Stouff- ville and then managed a barbecue supper at the Pol- lard home. Miss Bonnie Short was visiting the Ross Shorts in Port Perry on the weekend. Mrs. B. Fishley spent a few days with son Jim and family of Oshawa last week. U.C.W. president, Mrs. Wanamaker missed the June meeting on Thursday but it isn't every day that she and Bert are invited to the Royal York to see brother Glenn instaHed as Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Ontario 'Independent Order of Odd- fellows.
