Blackstock has cer- tainly gained the spot light this week. Last April during the World Development pro- gramme, the pupils at our Sunday School like countless others made posters on World Development themes. These posters were judged and forwarded 'to Toronto along.with 2,000 others from several denominations, 140 were chosen from the 2,000 and Blackstock won 3 prizes. The three girls who have brought such honour to Blackstock are Debbie Mec- Laughlin, Jane Parsons and Janis McLaughlin. Certainly it takes our young people to bring us distinction. Con- _gratulations girls! Many of our sick folks are home at various stages of recovery - Jim Marlow, Oscar Graham, Danny New- love, Shirley Turner have returned home and all are appreciative of the many calls and cards received while in hospital. Still in hospital are -- at Port Perry Mrs. McQuade and Mrs. O. Hill and at Oshawa Mrs. Gladys Suggitt. Several from Blackstock attended a bridal shower in honour of 'bride-to-be Donna Edgerton held at the home of Mrs. Bryon Holtby at Man- chester on Saturday evening. Mrs. Richard VanCamp was hostess for another bridal shower on Tuesday evening in honour of another bride-to-be- Carol Werry. Saturday afternoon guests of Mrs. Ruth Wilson were Mr. and Mrs: Richard "Archer, Cobourg and Mrs. Rowena Sherry.and Mrs. George Cole of Port Hope. Sympathy is extended to Mr. and Mrs. Harry McLau- ghlin, Mr. and Mrs. George Wolfe and their families on the passing of their father, Mr. Herbert Hooey on Tues- day evening. Mrs. Allan Wilson, Miss Suzanne Wilson and Mr, Bruce Knapp, Nes- tleton and Mrs. Lockyer, Brooklin attended the chris- tening of her granddaughter Valerie at Centennial Rouge United Church, West Hill on Sunday morning. This weekend the Bryans family were at their cottage at Kelly's Bay and had as their weekend guests Mr, and Mrs. Bruce Tripp and girls Oakville and Miss Jean Tripp who is visiting from Nelson, B.C. } On Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Bryans and family attended a family picnic at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wilf Brown at Courtice. Attending were the descendents of the late Mae Morley Wilkins. Mr. and Mrs, M.J. Hobbs, Mr. and Mrs, E.R. Taylor all of Enniskillen were Saturday afternoon callers of Mrs. Courtney Graham, Winners at the Senior Citizens' Card Party on Tuesday evening were Lad- ies High - Dorothy McDer- maid; Second - Mrs. Reid Cook Consolation - Mrs. Lawrence; Men's High - Meta Reid; Second - Isabel Wright.
