In the Oshawa-Whitby rid- ing. deputy returning offi- cers have counted some 55,355 voters in Oshawa and 1,394 in Whitby. Although the returns in the ridings of Ontario and Northumber- land-Durham have been made, the lists have not yet been counted. Ontario riding returning officer Roger Conant estim- ated the number of voters on his lists at 51,000. If you're'not sure whether you have been counted or not you can probably find one of 'the seven enumeration lists posted in every polling division. If you can't find a © list one will be mailed to every household in urban. communities by Oct. 7. The: lists include addresses of polling stations where votes are cast, advanced polling stations and revising offices. Rural voters are not mailed lists but if they can't find one of them posted in their polling division, they can be sworn in on Oct. 30 if they can get an eligible voter to vouch for them. If you're not listed and live in an urban community, you mus! apply to one of the local revising officers in the riding between Oct. 11 and 13. If you moved after Oct. 11 from one riding to another, vou must go to the returning officer in your riding. He will give you an application to be re-listed in the new riding and struck from the roll in the other riding. If you are not going to be in vour riding on Oct. 30, you may vote at any one of the advanced polls which will be open Oct. 21 and 23 from 9 p.m. Daylight Saving Time. The regular polls will be open from 8 am. to 7 p.m. Eastern Standard Time which goes into effect in Ontario Oct. 28. The exceptions to this are students, prospectors, mariners and ; people who can prove with a doctor's certificate that they were too ill to move on Oct. 30. They can vote by proxy. Proxies must be received Hospital Auxiliary nets $120. on painting draw ° ..The first fall meeting of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Port Perry Memorial Hospi- tal was held on Monday, Sept. 18th at the Hospital with an excellent atten- dance. Our attendance and interest in the Auxiliary is certainly growing much to everyone's delight, although it is creating a problem re meeting space. The meeting was opened with prayer, by the Presi- dent. The minutes of the last meeting were read as adop- ted as was the Treasurer's report, followed by corres- pondence, including a letter from Mrs. Grace Love, Chairman of the Board of Directors. expressing thanks to the: Auxiliary for the donation of a floor baumen- aumeter, (a blood pressure machine), monkey bars and a refrigerator for the phar- macy. These articles will assist the staff in providing better patient care. -The knitting convenor gave her report, and many finished items were on display. A report was given by the Tuck Shop Convenor, with thanks to the Auxiliary members who helped out in the summer, especially on weekends. It was reported that a donation of $100.00 was given to Mr. VanCamp, director for the purchase of fans to help out during the hot weather. It was reported the Fall Conference for the area will be held at the Summit Golf Club, by the York Central Hospital Auxiliary. Of course the biggest item ® was planning the '20th Anniversary Dance' to be held at the Legion, on September 30th at the low price of $5.00 couple. While this dance is mainly being held to commenorate they service of the Auxiliary to the Community, it is not mainly a money-raising pro- ject, although anything left over will as usual go into Auxiliary Funds. The meeting closed with a® draw for the oil painting being raffled. This was won by, Mrs. J. Jordan, R. R. 4, Port Perry. Mrs. Jordan is from New York but has been visiting Miss Ruth Gishler,, Manchester, for the sum- mer. The amount cleared in this raffle was $120.10. The meeting closed with refreshments. & by the polling officer where the vote will be counted by Oct. 27. The forms are available in universities, party committee rooms and from returning officers.
