Seagrave News Thanksgiving 1972 - B - r-r-r. After a whole weekend of howling winds and snow- flurries, the home fires feel ® good. Not many gardens were cleaned up this year but we did see one lady indust- riously cutting grass. The Durward' family had another of their big days on Saturday - the eighth with 3 to o Bo. At 4 o'clock, Mr, Charlie Durward and Miss Maisie Mortimer exchanged vows in Pleasant Pt. Church. At about 5:30 they and about 100 guests had a turkey dinner at Seagrave Church. A little ¢ later in the evening, the company went out to town for a dance in the Oddfellows Hall. Somewhat later, the Plesant Pt. ladies served' lunch there, We didn't notice any Durwards in church « Sunday morning. On Friday evening, Mr. Addition to "R.H. Cornish School (continued) school, . visitors returned to the gymnasium for re- freshments, What they saw during the tour was the latest in modern school equipment and teaching methods. A new resource centre is the e size of four classrooms, covering an area of 3,000 square feet, and includes a library. Mr, and Mrs. Heywood Short and Mrs. Reta Boe started a few days ago for an . autumn trip to the Mari- times. While there, they expect to attend the mar- riage of their nephew Martin Suddard in Truro, N.S. Mr. Bert Wanamaker is not yet ready to go visiting but he can and does receive callers, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Mark of Toronto and the Ron Wana- makers of Oshawa dropped in on Sunday. On a holiday weekend we expect to find Miss Miriam Chant visiting the Venners, She didn't disappoint us this week. Miss Donna Bruce spent PORT PERRY STAR -- Wednesday, Oct. 11,1972 - 7 the holiday in Ottawa. Next week Mr. and Mrs. Bruce and Mr. and Mrs. Barr take off for the south. Mr, and Mrs. Paul Brand were in Seaforth visiting relatives for a few days last week, Did. you see that new building beside the church? That is Bill Keens new house. We have. been reminded thatitis time for some turkey dinner talk, For many years Seagrave's date has been the first Wednesday 'in Novem- ber and this year it happens tobe 'the first day of Nov- ember -- only 3 weeks away. The church stewards met last week and the U.C.W. meet this Wednesday, S0 we figure things are, cooking. Our Thanksgiving church service was little different from that of any other Sunday -- no pumpkins nor apples decorated the alter rail. The only change was that Mrs. Gord Robertson of Pleasant Pt. was there and rendered a nice solo. At S.S. a program number appeared for the first time this fall as Arlene Watts gave a reading.
