Reports Mr. Lorne McCordick, who has operated his own Drug Store in Oshawa for some 15 vears, is now employed at Bruton's Pharmacy. . We welcome him to Port Perry Mr. and Mrs. Roy Honey spent the Christmas holiday with Mr. Honey's brother and family at Bridgenorth. Guests with Mr. and Mrs. Barry Howie and Scott on Christmas were, Mrs. Made- line Heayn, and Lynda, Miss Wendy Partner, Mr. and Mrs. Mac Christie, Doug and Lynne, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Heayn, and Mr. and Mrs. Reg McDonald and family, Paul and Debbie Heayn. Bruce and Robert Shaw have returned home after flying to Thunder Bay to spend Christmas and New Years with Mr. and Mrs. Tom Cook and family. On Saturday, December 30th, Dr. Matthew Dymond called on Mr. Herb Buckland on the occasion of his 90th birthday, to present him personally with a beautiful plaque from the Province of Ontario, the Honourable William Davis and the Gov- ernment of Canada. Mr. Buckland also received let- ters of congratulations from Dr. M. Dymond M.P.P., Premier William Davis, and Robert Stanfield. He re- ceived flowers from family and friends in Norway, many cards, gifts etc. from his Night Classes (continued gramme if sufficient stu- dents enroll. For businessmen, senior students, or anyone else, who may wish to improve their reading ability to handle efficiently the increasing volume of printed material, we have a Speed Reading course. This course is de- signed to increase your reading speed and to improve your comprehen- sion of material read. In addition to these courses new to the school we are offering again in the winter term the very popular Hairdressing course. Needlecraft will also be available for the increasing number of people who are interested in crochetting, knitting, needlepoint, etc. Students can select which of the many activities they would like to concentrate on in this course. There is some possibility that after the festive season more interest will be shown by the ladies in the Physical Fitness course. It will avail- able if enough ladies regis- ter. Some openings to enter the Upholstering classes of both Tuesday and Thursday are available. If you have any article of furniture you wish to reupholster you should consider joining these industrious students. So here is a suggestion to help shorten the long stretch of winter facing everyone. A night at theigh school doing 'something of interest with a group of interesting people is to be recommended. 'ROUND THE TOWN'; many friends and . neigh- bours. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Jeffrey of Oshawa spent Christmas week end with Mrs. C.C. Jeffrey and Mr. and Mrs. F.D. Slemmon. Christmas day guests were Mr. and Mrs. W.C. Slemmon of Oshawa, Mr. and Mrs. D.H. Farndale, Don Mills, and Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Ireland and family of Port Perry. Also relatives and friends from Saskatoon were callers on Christmas day. A number of Port Perry High School students have been volunteer workers at the Whitby Psychiatric Hos- pital since early fall. For the week of December 25 -. 31, they report a total of 34 motor vehicle collisions, in which 1 person was killed and 23 were injured. Total vehicle damage was $23,000. There: were 23 persons killed in automobile acci- dents during 1973, compared 1971. One hundred and eight "general occurrences' were reported for the week which include 6 liquor offences, 4 break and entries, 1 driving compalint, and 6 violations of other provincial statutes, hundred wrapped gifts from the students at the school.
