The January meeting of the O.N.O. met at the home meeting of of Sally Francis with 22: members and 5 visitors present. =~ Correspondence was read from the Golden Plough Lodge thanking the 'members for their Christ- mas gifts. Past President Joan Thompson turned the meet- ing over the the new Presi- dent Joan Grove. Donna Kyte presented Joan Thompson with her % past president's pin for a job well done. Menus were passed out by Doreen VanCamp for the Coates wedding on February 17. Several things will be ° coming up in the future, with a Skating Party on January 25 being the first. The Road- builders Banquet will be catered to in March and a dance will also be held in June with the Joey Van Quartette being the orch- estra. After the roll call, Elaine Bailey gave a very humor- ous reading, followed by a game by Sally Francis. The evening was brought to a close with a delicious meal of "Chinese food served by Sally and her group. His many friends are sorry that Mr. Wilbert Werry is not well these days. Much im- proved health is wished to you, Mr. Werry. The Senior Citizens' Card party was held on Tuesday evening with the following winners: Ladies' High Lorna Richards, Second - Mrs. McDermoid, Third - Mrs. O. Hill. Men's High Ella Venning, Second - Earl Prescott, Third - Reid Cook. Mrs. Alma Fowler who celebrated her 90th birthday recently is proudly showing her many callers a plaque and letter of congratulations which she received from M.P.P. Alex Carruthers and letters from Premier Wm. Davis and M.P. Allan Lawrence. We often hear about a slip between the cup and the lip - last week I myst have had one between the phone and publication when somehow I missed including Mrs. Ruth Wilson and Mrs. W. Mec- Quade's New Year's guests. Present at a most enjoyable family gathering were Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Wilson and Valerie of West Hill and Mr. and Mrs. Alan of Nestleton. My apologies. Mr. and Mrs. E.R. Taylor of Enniskillen were Tuesday supper and evening guests of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Kel'y and family. Sunday evening dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Neil Bailey, Howard and Tara Lynne were Mr. and Mrs. Grant Thompson, Nestleton, Mr. and Mrs. Neil Werry, Larry and Joy, Mrs. Rob Mairs, Peterborough. (Rob Mairs was unable to attend as he had the 'flu.) Patti Bryans is spending the week with Mr. and Mrs Ben Killens and David North Courtice. Saturday callers of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Bryans and family were Mr. and Mrs. Vie Hanc and Traci, Bowmanville, Mr. and Mrs. Allen Thompson Chris- tine and Brent, Maple Grove. On Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Bryans, Gord and Steve attended the snowmobile races at Mosport and were Sunday supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Neil Lee and family, Nestleton. On Thursday Mrs. David Kyte entertained eleven lit- tle boys and girls on the occasion of her son Jason's third birthday. On Saturday evening a good crowd attended the shower in honour of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Ramshaw (nee Sharon Archer) held in the Recreation Centre. Vernon Asselstine was the capable M.C. for the programme which consisted of a piano solo by Debbie Swain, a reading by Norma Wolfe, a piano solo by Barry Van- Camp. Gail Malcolm ac- companied by Gladys Thompson favoured with three lovely solos after which Mrs. W.W. VanCamp gave a humourous reading. Elaine Archer played a piano solo and Mrs. Elaine Bailey had a reading At this point the M.C. presented Sharon and Ray with a round card table and padded chairs along with other gifts repre- senting the best wishes from the community for their future happiness. Both Sha- ron and Ray replied fittingly. Lunch was ser to com- plete the evening. Ladies Auxiliary . On January 8, the ladies met at the Recreation Cen- tre, Blackstock with 19 ladies present. The president, Mrs. Welts, welcomed the ladies. The minutes were read and adopted. The treasurer re- ported bills were paid and the bank balance. Sally Francis made the motion that all outstanding bills be paid. Pat Sleep seconded the motion. Mrs. Welts gave the oath of office to the new executive. We had a report on the Training Session for the New Group Committee members. Mrs. Welts called on Pat Sleep, Madame Guide Com- missioner to explain to the members about the new Canada Cord which replaces the Gold Cord. Pat Sleep extended a cordial inviation to all to attend a Canada Cord Ceremony on January 28, 7:30 p.m. when 4 Guides will receive their Canada Cords. Mrs. Irma Welts will present them. A motion was made by Jean Adams that we give the girls a gift, seconded by Pat Sleep. Plans were finalized for the Scouters Dance to. be held on Saturday evening January 27 in Blackstock Recreation Centre. Coffee and cookies were enjoyed. The Mizpah was repeated. There will be no February meeting. The next meeting will be called and will be held in Caesarea. Nursing' Home News There were no admissions or discharges from the Nursing Home * during the week. Weekly religious services resumed on Tuesday last the 9th. Rev. Reginald Rose of the Anglican Church in Port Perry conducted a lovely service. He opened it with the Lord's Prayer and read the scriptures from S. Paul and went to explain the meaning of the Epiphany. He also told of how pleased he was at the large crowd of his parishioners who attended the Christmas Service in his church. We again had a very successful Bingo on Thurs- day evening. The ladies fared much better than in previous weeks and prizes were won by Mrs. Clark, Mrs. Marion (2) and Mrs. Letcher. These prizes were beautiful hand knitted slip- pers and were kindly don- ated by Mrs. John Ballard and Mrs. M. Williams. The men's prizes were won by Jim Bell, Walter Knight, John Kelly and Russ Brown. We wish to thank Rev. Critch who bought a case of oranges from the congre- gations of Pinedale, Sea- grave and Greenbank United Church. This was a Christ- masGift. Also a Thank You to the 'Friendly Visitors in Prixize Albert for providing ©= with some beautiful handmade placemats.
