In the first game they defeated New- castle 1 to 0. Scoring for Port on a nice effort was Todd Blayone with assists going to Scott Wallace and Robert Burnett. n the second game they were defeated by Ajax 7 to 0. For a team who have not played together that much this year, they gave it a good net. On Sunday evening, Port Perry hosted the Woodville J Club for an exhibition game : and had to settle for a 4 - 4 tie. This was one of the fastest games the boys have had this season. Scoring for Port Perry were Hurst unassisted, Par- ker from Burnett, Thompson from Tobin and Kane and Menzies from Tully. Port Perry wins 1, ties 1 and loses 1 at Oakwood Bantam Tournament Port Perry's Canadian Tire Bantams bowed to Lindsay in the championship game 5-2. In their first game of the day the CTC boys met Sunderland, blasting them 10-1. Scoring in the 1st period for Port was Steve Hawes from Tim Ashbridge. Mike McQuade tallied next 'on a tip in when John Kane let a hard point shot go. Collin Asselstine assisted also. The next goal was almost a replay of the Mec- Quade goal, Kane letting a drive go from the point and Richard Laforte tucked in the rebound. Randy Craw- ford rounded out the scor- ing in the 1st, assisted by Kevin Williams. In the second period the teams traded goals, Port's Randy Crawford unassisted and Brian Hadden unassist- ed for Sunderland. Port did all the scoring in the third period scoring five unan- swered goals. T. Ashbridge from Kent Braid, Steve Hawes from K. Baird, C. Asselstine from S. Hawes, K. Baird from S. Hawes and John Kane from K. Willi ams . Woodville defeated Bowmanville 6-5 gaining the right to play Port Perry in the second round. Port Perry played to a 3-3 tie with Woodville. Port scored the 1st goal of this game, Mike McQuade from Robert Evans. This was the only score of the 1st period. In the 2nd period Woodville tied Ken Hurren from Bob Craig. B. Craig put Woodville ahead assist- ed by Terry Jewel and David McQuagge to end the period: In the third period Woodville came on with singles going to Bob Craig and Terry Jewel. Port came right back with Mike Mec- Quade scoring from R. La- forte. Randy Crawford play- ing very strong on defense scored the tieing goal on a long shot unassisted. Early in this game John Kane suf- fered a groin injury, leav- ing the Port team with only two defensemen. Port Perry went into the Championship game with Bill Hurst and John Kane and Toot Mar- tens out of action. In the first period Lind- say scored two unanswered goals by Dave Webster and Dave Mechan. Lindsay opened the scoring in the 2nd period on a point drive by Tim Pearson. This long hard shot hit goalie Bill Evans on the heel and he had to leave the game for xrays. Doug Culbert took over in goal for Port and played quite well, shuting Lindsay out for the rest of the period. 'n the 3rd period Lindsay got hot again with goals by Mike Williams from Dave Web- ster. Port Perry then an- swered with two goals by Kent Baird both assisted by C. Asselstine. Lindsay fin- alized the scoring Jeff Hut- ton unassisted. The Bantam "B"s finished in 4th place in league.
