Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Miller and girls and Mr. Gordon Bruce from Ennis- killen were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Mel McGee. We are sorry to report that Mrs. Mel McGee's father Mr. George Waddell is in Port Perry Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Macklin of Aurora were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Neil Raines on Sunday. Ron and Janice Blakely of Toronto were at Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Blakelys for the weekend. Congratulations to Gayle Blakely who was crowned jueen of the Port Perry High School at Home. Mr. and Mrs. Andy David- son visited recently with Mr. ind Mrs. Roy Leask. Mr. and Mrs. Don McKean :ntertained her parents Mr. ind Mrs. Archer of Midland ind Miss Sally Treleaven of l'oronto over the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Muray Lee ind family were guests of Mr. and Mrs.Keith Heron and family of Fenelon Falls on sunday. Recently six ladies from the community spent the afternoon at the home of Mrs. Jim Ianson to help celebrate the birthday of Miss Eva Luke of Port Perry. Menzies a member of the Port Perry Novice Hockey team who won their hockey tournament at Keene on Saturday. Everyone is invited to attend the World Day of Prayer service at Green- bank United Church on Friday, March 2nd at 2 p.m. Mrs. James Gibson of Ux- bridge will be the guest speaker. The regular monthly meeting of the Greenbank W.I. was held Wednesday, 21st. Fifteen members were in attendance. Council seeks roads subsidy Port Perry will be asking the provincial ministry of transportation and com- munication for partial sub- side on the $118,334 it spent during 1972 on village roads. The subsidies on approved projects are provided for under the Public Trans- portation and Highway Improvement Act. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Lar- mer, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Graham attended the Milk Producers' Meeting in Hes- peler during the week. Among the sick of the community are Mr. Tom Horton who underwent sur- gery in Port Perry Hospital on Monday and Mr. Ken Hulcoop also in Port Perry. Many more are ill at home these days with all types and versions of flu, colds, chic- ken-pox and what-have-you. Better health is wished for all the ill. There were 15 tables at the Sr. Citizens' Card party on Tuesday evening. Beautifully attired in their, best formal wear the crowd spent three hours sliding across the highly waxed floor until the At Home Queen, runner up and Prin- cess were introduced at about midnight, then every- one retired to the cafe- teria for a well varied buffet. Gayle Blakely, a lovely 18 year old grade 12 student with the nicest smile this side of Mexico City, was named Queen. Her runner up was 17 year old Shelley Olsen. Carol Wilton, another 17 year old beauty, was selec- ted Princess. Blackstock Intermediate Sunday School spent an enjoyable afternoon skating on Glenn Larmer's pond. it was decided to hold a Family Fun Night at Blackstock United Church on March 16 to raise money to go to see Godspeed. Everyone is wel- come. Blackstock 4H We started our fourth meeting on Tuesday, Feb- ruary 20 with the 4H pledge. Roll call was a sewing technique which we learned last week. Laurel Vine read the minutes of the previous meeting. Katie gave the treasurer's report. We were taught a variety of necklines. We also learned, though simple to do, how effective and easy apliques are. We worked on fitting our gar- ments appliquing and mak- ing our notes. The meeting was closed with the 4H motto.
